The recommended age is 5 and even though they are 6, they got a bit frustrated that they weren't able to land the horse on the mountain on the first few tries. It was easily put together and the directions were easy to follow. My seven year old twins and I quickly got the hang of the game and enjoyed playing it. After playing for about 20 minutes my children took the horses and were making up their own games with them. When I opened it up, I worried that it might be too hard to get the horses onto the mountain, but after a few rounds, they were getting the hang of it. Both my daughter and son enjoy playing. I love that it doesn't take batteries or require an hour to play. It's a fun game that you can spend as much or as little time playing as you want. We enjoy playing a few rounds as a family, and they can also play it by themselves. The only downfall is that it doesn't fit back in the box unless you take it apart. We've decided to keep it together, and we have put the little pieces into a drawstring bag. With such a wide range of kids and youngest being to this game was great at keeping everyone's attention with hours of fun. The horses are so cute and my sons favorite part was launching them in the air.
