However, the battery and light compartment is not sealed from the elements, so if your kid rides through a puddle and gets water inside the compartment, the batteries get all wet leading to battery corrosion and the controls short out causing the lights to continue cycling indefinitely until you take the batteries out or the water dries up. It was easy to put together and the lights are perfect! The platform of the scooter has a &ldquo;matte&rdquo; surface so the lights are not too bright. Lights didn't work when I bought it. Very helpful store manager was going to allow me to replace it, but I opted to just trade the old batteries for new ones. Once replaced the lights worked for about 5 minutes when I was testing it out. By the time my daughter had a chance to ride it again the batteries didn't work. Surprise, surprise. Now we can't remove the battery cover because it is impossible to open it! The groove in the plastic is too big for a screw driver so trying that chews up the plastic. NOTHING fits in that to twist the cover off. So now I have a junky scooter that doesn't light up, I can't even replace the batteries or see if there is a problem keeping them in place because we can't get the cover off! My child is so sad and disappointed. What is the point of a light up scooter that doesn't light up.
