While he's played with similar &quot;toys&quot;, he's never had kinetic sand, and I thought it would be fun thing for him to try out. The case/play base is solid and snaps closed securely but is easy enough for small hands to open on their own. It gives kids (and adults) a large space to play with the sand, which is fantastic to help minimize clean up and messes. We both had fun molding shapes by hand as well as using some included tools. We had a nice castle setup with creatures, all with the included amount of sand. The only down side is that the unit doesn't come with any sort of containers to store the sand in after play. With multiple colors in use, it would be nice to have some sort of plastic storage to put each type of sand in to keep them separate. We ended up just using ziplock bags. The tools/accessories are sturdy and have not cracked. Once we're finished playing, we just move all the sand to one side of the box and it folds up nicely. Pros: compact, safe materials, well built sandbox, high sides of the sandbox to lesson spills Cons: Our favorite color (blue) started to lose the bright color after a few weeks. Pricepoint is pretty steep - I could probably buy the sand and a storage bin for less than I paid for this. I really wish that the sandbox had a hole so that it could be used for water as well. Overall this is pretty neat to have! I have several containers floating around but this is nice because it keeps my table and floors clean by providing a play surface. It is also great to keep everything inside. I wish the little doors inside were easier to open, my kids had to ask for help. Overall, loaded with lots of play space, lots of sands, and even fun tools to shape and play with. This giant sandbox of sand and toys is amazing for any child. there is more than enough sand for a bunch of kids to play, and be able to make multiple different creations. my kids love building sandcastles, and putting little Lego people in to make it look real. I suppose 10lbs is incredibly heavier than I image. If I was thinking I would have unpack this on a mat or blanket. It's messy when the kids don't follow the instructions given. However, this is therapy for them to be creative and play together.
