It's a great size and weight - not too long, heavy or light. It's very easy to assemble and there's a reassuring 'click' when the pieces are secure. The staff comes with two features: 1) the larger button on front that makes the gem light up, spin, and makes noise 2) the smaller button on the back that releases the gem Both features are awesome. You don't need the gem to be attached to the staff to use the front button either, which I think is special and very reminiscent of the movie. In fact, we've been removing the gem and using to to hide around the house. My son then has to go on a &quot;quest&quot; to find it and then reattach it to the staff. I only wish there was some pronunciation guide or reminder of the spells! My daughter has seen the movie Onward twice, so she did not fully remember what the staff was used for, but right away loved the sounds and lights and spinning gem action. It took me a bit to figure out which way the pieces rotate to be &quot;straight&quot;, but we finally got it, and my daughter was very excited to play with her &quot;piece of tree&quot;. She has high functioning autism, so she either is very immersed in reenacting scenes from movies, tv, or books or giving us concerts; she normally would not be excited over a toy that does not correspond with one of her special interests. For her, she was excited that is was the proper size for a walking stick, and was fascinated with the lights and spinning of the gem while sensory-seeking, but the sounds were pretty loud for her after a while. The sound is loud enough that it could be heard across our home. She very much enjoyed using it as a walking stick and pressing the button while dramatically raising it into the air and shouting &quot;Expelliarmus!&quot;. (We clearly have a Gryffindor on our hands here.) Other than the sounds being overly loud, we love this toy. The lights, sounds, and spinning action make this a very fun toy. We love that you can remove the gem and use it while &quot;going on adventures&quot; or &quot;treasure hunting&quot;.
