I opened the box to look at him and i loved him. I went in for my meeting and when I got in the car an hour later Ken&rsquo;s face was shiny and oily. It looked like his face was melting! It&rsquo;s 104 degrees in West Texas. I cleaned his face with an alcohol swab and he seems fine. I hope I haven&rsquo;t caused any permanent damage. Ken appears to have a case of extreme plasticizer that has leached on the &lsquo;skin&rsquo; of his entire head. I thought this was a problem with dolls from the mid-1980s or some vintage &lsquo;bubble cut&rsquo; dolls of the 50s&mdash;not one the is a reproduction that is 2 years old?! I am very disappointed with this purchase. I had a Fashion Queen and a strawberry blond Midge (no freckles). Later I received a red haired Skipper and a Tutti doll. I always wanted a Ken doll, though, so we could have weddings and dance parties! I bought this Ken doll (twice) and he's very nice. The only negative I have to share is that I wish Mattel would have given us a blonde doll and a brunette doll from which to choose. This is the first Ken, because he has the flocked hair, which went away and was replaced with painted on molded hair. Unlike so many of these other reviews, I didn't get mine for free... I put him up with my original Ken's, very impressed with the level of detail. I love the fact they used the Silkstone material, he really holds up next to the originals. Feels like high quality and I am always a fan of anything that comes in a box, not plastic.
