The box recommends ages 8+ but my 6 year old rides this with ease and has a great time on it supervised. My 9 year old absolutely loves this scooter and I have a hard time getting her off it. Out of box this scooter was super easy to put together and charge... with in a few hours my kids were outside coming up with tricks and showing me how this product worked. It goes fast (up to 7.5 mph) and can be used continuously for 30 minutes on a full charge. It is really cool at night with all the lights! It features multicolored LED lights on and below the deck along with a light up front wheel. It really helped my granddaughter work on balance which is one of her struggles. It has a foot activated power system so you just have to stand on it and go! It was very easy for my eight-year-old granddaughter to handle once she got used to it. We love the fact that it is the same size as their regular scooters, so it's easy for them to carry with no big bulky motor. It's so easy to use, to turn it on you just step onto the scooter, then push off and it will start going by itself. When you're done it just shuts itself off so no worrying about draining the battery when kids forget to shut things off. We also love that it lights up, it just adds to the fun and makes it fun to play on at night as well. It's not as fast as some electric scooters and is really easy to ride. The lights are really cool as well. My 5 year old and his friends can't get enough of it. They take turns riding it around the block. The thing is, the box recommends ages 8 and up, which seems on the high end. We had a 10 year old try it and he was too big. I would really recommend it for more like ages 5-8. Older kids are going to want more speed. The five year olds hopped on and took off with no problem and no crashes! They were in awe of it and couldn't wait for my husband to put it together. It's pretty cool to have the LED lights on the wheels and deck. It's a great step-up scooter between a beginner's Razor scooter and the full on Razor electric scooters. It only takes about 4 hours to fully charge the first time which was great, when my sons couldn't wait to test it out. It's size is best for about a 7-8 year old. It has decent speed once you get going, but there are no controls on the handles to keep speed continuous. You need to keep kicking on the ground to keep it going somewhat but it goes electric once you get going. The LED lights are pretty cool and my sons were so excited about that part. It can get going fairly fast, but it does not have the speed of a full electric razor scooter. The foot deck is smaller so an older kid may not be able to fit on this. It has good balance, but speed is not constant. It may take a little bit of practice to master turns on this Razor Tekno scooter, as it isn't as maneuverable on turns like some of the other full-sized Razor scooters. Our friends' son tried it out as well (he's 7), and was in LOVE with this scooter. He was hesitant to try out a 10 mph Razor Scooter, so he liked how this was in between a non-electric Razor scooter, and a full-electric Razor scooter. This one does not have controls on the handle bars, and speed goes up and down as a result. This scooter as some pretty cool things, and yes, I would recommend this for kids who are about 7-8 years old, or just a bit older if they aren't quite at the ability level for a full-electric Razor scooter controlled on the handles, as a step-up scooter. This LED lights on the front wheel and foot deck/kick deck are pretty amazing. My sons would love to have that option on ALL levels of scooters for sure, as they would be visible if riding on one at dusk or the evening. It needs some tweaks on handling while doing curves, as it can get a little less maneuverable on turns, and it would be nice for it to have a kick stand to keep it upright when stored. And, it would be great if it had electric controls on the handles like other models of electric scooters. At the end of the day, my sons and their friends loved getting to try this Razor scooter model out. He barely let it charge long enough to do anything with except ride around the house. When he finally let it charge, he let it rip outside! He was riding like a champ and had a smile bigger than any I've ever seen before. He loves riding at night because of the way it lights up. This is his new favorite thing...he even put the iPad down! It has safety features and isn't too fast but fast enough to keep them happy. It takes a couple pushes to get it started and stops when it senses weight has been removed from it. My 9 year old boys and 4 year old boy all think it is fantastic. I feel safe letting them ride it. It charged quickly and isn't too bulky. I have no complaints and neither do my boys.
