I would recommend splitting the build between a couple of weeks instead of two nights like I did. I haven't been a LEGO Art builder in the past and the thought of handling many thousands of 1x1 plates was imposing. But I've been into world geography since I was very young and have often wowed friends and family with my knowledge base. When I started to build the World Map according to the plans, I quickly decided to go in a very different direction. Being very interested in geoscience, I purchased additional red studs and plates and installed the boundaries of the tectonic plates. I'm using the colored plates that came with the World Map to create an elevation map of the continents (I'm just starting that with North America). I'm having a lot of fun and I'm learning more about the relationship between plate tectonics and how the largest mountain ranges on Earth were formed. It's also sobering to see the plate boundaries responsible for terrible natural disasters such as the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2010 Haiti earthquake, several quakes in Turkey and China, and the 2011 Japan tsunami.
Date published: 2023-08-09

Rated 5 out of 5 by Samrat8 from The World and other things I absolutely recommend this kit for anyone who loves the Lego Art series or just creating MOC mosaics.
Date published: 2023-08-08

Rated 5 out of 5 by BestHireEver from My favorite build yet! When I saw the World Map’s box I noticed the custom ocean image, where they added an octopus and thought, ok this will be fun. I can do the countries as is and then build out the oceans to be something really fun. Little did I know when I hit order that the custom oceans really are custom. Lego does NOT have instructions for the alternate layout on their site. After a day of searching for other custom ocean versions, I found one I really liked. The only problem, there weren’t actually instructions for this either, and I could only find one image of it. So I did what seemed the most reasonable, got my laptop out and zoomed in, and just pieced it together as closely as I could. I kept the main features of the bottom 3/4’s as close to the same as the inspiration photo; and then on the final morning when I was working on the top portion I just started googling Pixel Art: Ocean, Sea Animals, Starfish, etc. I started the build on a Wednesday night and got the first 4 panels with countries only completed; then completed the remaining panels on Thursday night. Took Friday off; and then spent a chunk of Saturday, and a few hours Sunday morning doing the custom oceans. It probably took about 15 hours all in to build and I am loving the results.
Date published: 2023-06-19

Rated 3 out of 5 by PrinceMadcapWyldstyle100 from Fun To Build, Not So Fun To Display I received this set as a gift and was beyond excited when I opened it. I just finished completing it and had a great time putting it together. Despite it being a bit tedious, I really had fun with it. Unfortunately, hanging it up has been a nightmare. I have been looking forward to hanging this piece since I received it, but unfortunately I don't think I am going to be able to display it. Overall, the piece is pretty flimsy and buckles under pressure. I do not have experience with hanging legos, and as such I was completely unable to hang this with the limited supplies and instructions given. I tried very hard, since I really wanted to hang this up, but now I'm just not really sure what to do with it.
Date published: 2023-06-12

LEGO ART World Map 31203 (11695 pieces) Reviews - page 2

y_2024, m_5, d_8, h_6

bvseo_bulk, prod_bvrr, vn_bulk_3.0.42

cp_1, bvpage1

co_hasreviews, tv_0, tr_100

loc_en_CA, sid_649ACA1C, prod, sort_[SortEntry(order=SUBMISSION_TIME, direction=DESCENDING)]

clientName_toysrus-ca

bvseo_sdk, dw_cartridge, 18.2.0, p_sdk_3.2.0

CLOUD, getReviews, 6ms

reviews, product
