There are so many ways for my boys to play with this product, using the blocks to learn first words (plus each stage for each block), the numbers and colors, cause and effect from stacking the blocks in the chute then releasing them and the button on the puppy's nose. Once engaged, it will hold my 18 month old captive for about 10 minutes at a time, and longer if my oldest plays with him.</span>

She is able to stack the blocks in the tower and she gets so excited that she is able to do it. After each one she claps her hands.
The round part in the middle where you put the block on top and it says what it is works great. Its very easy to just place the block there and it works each time. I am not sure that my 1 year old understand what it says, but non the less it works and it is cute.
Overall its a cute toy. My only "complaint" (and its really not a complaint) is that the tower doesn't hold all of the blocks. There is a "reservoir" on the side for the extra blocks that don't fit, but it is an awkward thing to do. It would have been better to make the tower tall enough to hold them all.
My 3 year olds also play with this toy with her and they love it as well. They are quite familiar with this puppy, because they have all had the talking puppy, so it is well received in my home.</span>

Each block has 2 faces (directly opposite each other) which depict the object that will be read by the reader (one in a white silhouette and the other in color with the object's name written below it). The other 4 faces (2 of which are made of a different color and contain images of shapes while the other 2 are comprised of a smiling face and the Fisher-Price logo) are not read any different by the reader, effectively making each block only pertain to one object instead of a potential 6 different objects. This drastically reduces the number of words that will be taught by the toy and it's reader. The reader itself is great though, with not needing the block to actually rest on it in order to trigger, and it also will go into a sleep mode after a period of inactivity so as to not needlessly waste battery power.
The toy has modes for 3 different stages of learning, with each stage building upon the previous stage and in addition to the block having a unique phrase for each stage, each block has it's own unique musical tune associated with it, which does not vary with the stage.
There are 5 buttons below the reader which, depending on the stage, will teach the child numbers, colors, shapes and play a musical note/tune. Puppy himself has a nose which can be pressed that will light up and cause him to say a phrase. The block storage chute has a lever which allows the blocks to fall into an area for the child to grab. For anyone with OCD out there, be forewarned that the blocks caught by the lever will not sit level as the the catch is only on one side of the chute.
Additional block packs can be purchased in order to allow for more words to be taught, including: numbers, animals and food.</span>

He waited as patiently as a toddler can while I opened it up and got it set up. The next 3 hours, all he wanted to do was okay with the Puppy. It has now been a week and it is the only toy he wants to play with. He laughs, dances and smiles with enjoyment the entire time. The toys ability to "scan" the blocks is amazing. The different level settings are great for older child interaction with the toy. The soft ears make the puppy seem real. Fun toy with a lot of educational opportunities, Fisher Price definitely got this toy right!</span>

My twin boys take turns putting the blocks in the side and releasing them its their favorite feature right now. My 4 year old like to press the dogs nose and sing the abc's to his brothers. Its nice that you dont have to actually sit the block on the round piece for it to realize which block it is considering the boys almost never put the blocks down unless its in the side compartment. This is the first toy they have actually enjoyed playing with and use everyday.</span>
