It can handle the normal wear and tear coming from an average 2-year old. It is made with a fair amount of details including a detailed facial expression and a load of coal in the rear. The engine resistance is not too hard for 2-year olds to fully press down in order to make it go. It does include a &ldquo;stunt&rdquo; wheel in the rear which allows for stunt wheelies. In my opinion, one con of this toy is that it does not travel nearly as far whiles doing wheelies as it does with all wheels on the floor. I would estimate traveling at about 10-12 ft. with all wheels down and about 6-8 ft. while doing a wheelie (depending on the surface). This train does not do well on carpet. I would recommend this toy to occupy 2-year olds. It was fast and, despite falling off of a table multiple times, it continued looking and working nicely. It did require my son to use two hands with it, and it was hard for him to get it to roll standing up (there's a little part on the back that allows it to move this way). Overall we were happy with the quality of the toy and the function. She loves to find new places where she can launch it off something. I like that it keeps her entertained for awhile but it also has opened up her imagnation making diffetent types of ramps to launch it on. I love that it is quite durable, it has taken quite a few hits off the floor, walls, refrigerator ect.. I also like the size of it, not to small so she won't lose track of it, and not to big so she can take it with her easily. The only reason I took a star off was cuz it wont go on carpet, thankfully her room has hardwood floors, most of our floors are carpeted, i wish it the wheels had a little more tread with rubber to be able to move on carpet but thats just minor. It doesn't take away the fun she has with it. If your child loves trains, they'd definitely love this press n go train. My son had no problem pressing down on the train to get him to start rolling, then initiating the &quot;stunt&quot; capability by quickly tapping on his back end to get him to pop a wheelie across the room. He rolls pretty fast and a good distance across the room on smooth floor. Thomas is a little smaller than I expected, but overall perfect for kids just learning to crawl or walk.
