It’s like an old school shape sorter but with a twist…literally! It displays a few shapes at a time and then you have to push down on the top to get new shapes. It’s kinda confusing for my 2.5 year old. She’s pretty good at getting the block in the shape once she finds the correct one, but doesn’t get the concept to spin the apple, then stop and look to see if the shape she needs is there before spinning it again. She likes to push it several times in a row and then gets frustrated if her shape isn’t there. It can also be annoying listening to the the apple spin over and over again!</span>

You press the stem of the apple down and the top rotates to change the shape of the hole. The child finds the right shape for each of the holes and pushes through the shape into the apple container. There is an access door in the back of the apple to get your shapes back and play again. I like how it makes the child think about what shape do I need to insert. The plastic is thick, the graphics of the apple is cute and the little blocks are different colors and has fruit representations on them. Easily cleanable. Its intended for 18 months but I think its ok for a little younger. Great gift!</span>

When I introduced this new shape sorter to her, she didn’t find it too interesting perhaps because the shapes are abstract. The spaces for the shapes can also change when you press the stem so there is no learning of connecting the shape with the position. That definitely makes the toy more difficult to use and with time she may be able to use this toy. The opening where the shapes come out is a little difficult to get the shapes out. We will keep trying to play with it!</span>

However, this updated version is so much better! I was so surprised when I saw all of the features of this one! It’s just a great learning tool that I’m thrilled to have for my son. He absolutely loves it and he doesn’t even realize that he’s learning while playing. This shape sorter really challenges the child but in the best way.
My son’s speech therapist loved it so much that she actually purchased one to use with her other kids.
Hands down an awesome purchase!</span>
