I got this as a special treat for him and he immediately took to it. He loves the Santiago action figure and the sounds the ship makes. I have had fun watching him make up his own Santiago adventures with the treasure chest and telescope. The toy seems pretty durable and we have not had any issues with it at all. My kids are 7 and 5 and both of them have really enjoyed it. They love the noises and the secret compartment. It&rsquo;s definitely larger than expected. The Santiago character fits in the palm of my hand. The ship has a lot of near features: wheels so it easily glides across the floor, has a circle with five characters and you can turn the arrow and hear from each. Also the light that shines on the sail is a big hit in our house. There are little places all over the ship that you can stand Santiago so he won&rsquo;t fall over, very helpful for a younger audience. My kids have had a lot of fun with this toy. I think any kid who loves ships/boats would enjoy this toy even if they hadn&rsquo;t seen the show. One is almost 3 and the other is 6. This toy is awesome! The ship is a great size and has wheels at the bottom so it glides smoothly across the floor. It also has many pieces and each piece has a spot on the ship. Santiago&rsquo;s hands are able to grasp the ship&rsquo;s wheel or hang from the red rope. He can also stand at the crow&rsquo;s nest by placing his feet into position. The dial on top of the ship can be turned to select a different character to hear specific phrases from those characters. Then there is another button that when pressed, Santiago&rsquo;s voice speaks directly to those other characters. Lights also shine when the buttons are pressed and there are multiple colors. It lights up the sails which looks really cool. The coolest thing about the ship though is the hidden compartment where you can place the gold coin. Place the coin and close the compartment..open the compartment and the coin disappears! My kids were amazed but of course my 6 year old caught on quickly. There is also a red plank that can slide in and out from the ship. Another great thing is that there are two volume levels and an off switch. I love instructive toys like this but it&rsquo;s also nice to be able to turn them off! The toy seems built of solid construction and provides lots of entertainment. Ship can make noise and have different characters from the TV show talk when a button is pushed (that function can be turned off as well). The gang plank can be retracted. My kids like that there is a secret compartment to hold the small pieces that come with this set, such as the coin. The drawer sometimes doesn't open and close very well. One recommendation would be including two figures with this set rather than just one figure and the frog. Two figures could make play even more fun.
