It is great as a floor toy and can be used as a table top toy once your child is old enough. It is made out of beautiful light-colored wood, it is well made and very durable. The edges are smooth and it comes with a handle for carrying. It has some weight to it but I still consider it as lightweight. The sound and music it makes is very melodious; I do not mind my son playing with this at all. It actually is very relaxing. There is a low and loud option; I can say that the lowest setting is actually soft and quite. There are 3 options; instrument, color/animals and freestyle. You can also choose between English, Spanish and French. It is activated by touching any part of the wheel, it is very responsive and does not require much effort. It is a fun way to teach your toddler colors, animals and musical instruments. All switches are on the center. I wish it was located on the back; that way your kid wouldn't be able to modify the settings you want it to be set at. That is the only flaw I can find. Overall, it is a sturdy, educational and interactive toy that your child can play for years. The quality of the toy is fantastic! It is lightweight even though it is wooden and the added handle is a nice detail for transporting. I especially love that the wooden part of toy is completely flat topped without any buttons. This makes it easy to clean. The center does have a few buttons and tabs, but they are minimal and keep with the simplistic look of the design. It&rsquo;s easy to slide my fingers and tap the various areas to get the desired sound and there are corresponding lights to boot. My 2 year old has also been intrigued by this toy, however it doesn&rsquo;t keep her attention long. She&rsquo;ll move her fingers around to get some sound, but layering some beats and making a song may be too advanced for her right now. Interestingly, the toy includes 3 language modes of English, Spanish and French. There was three different languages this toy can be set to which is unique.&nbsp; It is something that we all can learn from since we are not fluent in Spanish and French. Cal&rsquo;s Smart Sounds Symphony Magic Touch Toy is a perfect activity that incorporates lights and sounds to hold attention for an extended amount of time. This toy has six different instruments, all coded with a different color and animal. The toy itself incorporates light touch- there are no buttons, just a smooth surface, allowing children to learn cause-and-effect through its use. I love how there are multiple settings, allowing for the toy to grow with the child. My, and my daughter&rsquo;s, favorite part, is the setting where you can touch and combine different instruments together to make unique sounds and songs! We found that we had to touch multiple times to turn off the sounds while composing (I wish this was easier- it appears that there are different frequencies/rhythms you touch through, but I couldn&rsquo;t really discern between them). Either way, that small detail doesn&rsquo;t seem to affect her enjoyment. I also think the use of three languages (English, Spanish, and French) is an awesome addition- making it a great toy for a bilingual home, or a home where you just may want your child to be exposed to more languages. The wood foundation of the toy makes it a more sustainable choice than most conventional toys, too. My son is 9 months old, and I have to admit when we put it in the floor with his other toys he did not pay much attention to it. We tried to get him interested by showing him but he just went to his other toys. One time he was sitting on the high chair and my daughter brought him the toy. He started to hit it after my daughter did and happily played with it. This toy is like a flat disc that is very easy to activate with the touch of the baby hand. My son was loving it on the higher chair after he was able to focus in on it. There are only pictures and small rim of shining lights that okay to the tune or sounds on the disk. This does not use traditional buttons which may be the reason why my son did not know what to do as first. It just a flat sensor with photos. My son is really into me sic and buttons but after he figures this out he really enjoys the lights and music coming on. There three Language options for Spanish, French, and English. There are also options for okay time with colors, music, and animals. The tune are delightful and not too loud. My son has a great time with this toy and we have been using it for when he is in the higher characters r for a few minutes. The toy is light weight and easy to carry and travel with as well. Overall, I recommend this product for babies around 19 months old.
