This toy has held up to my four year old &quot;helping&quot; the baby play with it--it has been dropped it multiple times on our tile floors, which I thought was sure to crack the plastic or mess with the electronics inside, but it is going strong! So this thing is durable--which I would hope for, since it is ball shaped and it can roll itself off of surfaces when activated. It also keeps my one year old pretty entertained--he loves to laugh at it spinning itself around on the floor and does cute little baby head bobs to the music. Always a fan of hard plastic things, she was eager to start slobbering on it. Lucky for us, Tinker came packaged ready to go: no batteries to install, no parts to assemble. Tinker and the kid got on the floor for some immediate play time. Always a plus. Tinker has three buttons that activate it. Each will announce a number, color, or shape, then play a tune as Tinker seemingly springs to life, bobbling and rolling around the room. Now here's why I could only give poor Tinker 4 stars instead of 5. After a few days of playing around with it, my daughter never caught on to what seems like Tinker's biggest selling point: you're supposed to chase it around! The bobbling and rolling *should* inspire most crawling babies to chase after it, smack another button, and chase it again. Not so for my daughter! She'd start with some chewing on Tinker's ear, maybe accidentally hit a button. When the toy wobbled away from her, she just...let it, and moved on to something else. Tinker even gives the baby a little wiggle a few seconds later as a helpful reminder: &quot;Keep playing with me.&quot; My kid would sometimes shake her arms (her signal that she is entertained), but like a dog who can't play fetch, she never bothered to go get Tinker after it rolled away. There's a volume control switch, and a cool language switch, too (the toy covers English, French, and Spanish words). It knows plenty of songs, so they don't get annoying too soon. Parents will want to store this guy upright, as sometimes it lands itself on the buttons and starts up all over again.
