It is super vibrant and the songs are sure to entertain. The oversized tabs are great for little fingers turning the pages. What's even better is that if she gets tired of the nursery rhymes I can switch to colors or instrument sounds. My son loves it and hasn't put it down yet !! It gives him so much to do, audible, tactile, motor skills turning pages and pushing buttons. And the best part is its durability. He's been absolutely brutal with it. And we have hard wood floors. Not a scratch on it. And still works perfectly. The songs and voice are pleasant, the volume adjustable by a hidden switch on the back that he hasn't discovered yet, and you can switch from nursery rhymes to other sounds, and it's the songs he's already familiar with so he gets down with it !! I love how it has the sliding things on the pages , my son interacts with this book so much and believe it or not , he's already said his first word just by playing with this book consistently, I have nothing but good things to say on this one! I highly recommend for any little one ! They will love it ! This has both! While the lowest audio setting is still easily heard, it's nice being able to turn it down a bit. The toy itself has multiple story-songs inside and there are words so you can sing along. The 5 buttons on the right will either play the associated instrument's sound or specify its color. There are also knobs and various toggles throughout the book as well. He loves books in which you can touch. When we first took this book out of the package, my son was all over it...but that lasted for about 5 minutes. I then went up to the book, showed him how there are manipulatives in which you can twist, feel, and make sounds with I showed him how it sings, how you can turn the hard pages. He was immediately attracted to it once again, and that lasted for about 5 minutes again. I read it with him, he took it from my hands out of curiosity and he started reading it to me (babbling). Babies have short attention spans, so that may be why he couldn't focus on it, but I think he likes it. As for me, I'm a mother to two boys (1.5, and 6 years old). I am also a special education teacher and speech language pathologist. I LOVE THIS BOOK. I love the manipulatives, I love that it is not too loud, I love that kids can interract with the book, and I love that it is hard, and contains rhymes. It's essential for young ones to have hard books, as they like to rip things. This book makes that impossible to do. Babies are also curious beyond belief, so they throw stuff...so the material makes a huge difference. I love the catching colors, and love the rhymes. I can tell you first hand, rhyming is the first part to learning how to read! If your child can not rhyme, they will have trouble reading. Rhyming is essential, and songs/books are a great way to get your kids used to it. My youngest loves the music and sounds from the books. He enjoys the light up star in the middle. Opening and closing it is also a big joy. My oldest is starting to understand words and books have meaning and trying to read on his own. Many of the stories are familiar stories we have read to him before, so he enjoys using the pictures and his memory to retell the stories in his own words.
