My favorite is the silent mode it was so helpful a few weeks ago when my son was sick, I had to monitor his body temperature I was able to do it silently without waking him up every few hours. Another feature that I like is the memory: you can save the last temperature reading. I also love that I can choose to use Celsius or Fahrenheit as I am coming from a country where we use Celsius I am so used to it that what usually use. I love how easy it is to read and understand the results, using the light feature : the light will be green for normal body temperature, red for fever and yellow for slightly high. However I gave it to my mother is a gift because she is older and she's what they call Old School and it's hard for her to understand a lot of things. Because the temperature was color coded green for good yellow for kind of warm and then red for fever it actually made it to where she could use it without a problem. Both my young sons were recently sick. This was a quick and easy way to take their temperature. It was effortless. It took about 2 seconds. It also changed color from green to yellow to alert me they have a low grade fever. I am assuming if they have a higher fever it would be red. It also has a mute button so you can do it when they are sleeping and not wake them with a beep sound. This also does surface temperature as well so you can see the temperature of the bath water is. Point at the center of someone's forehead and push the button. It gives you a temperature reading in seconds. I compared the temperature reading with my Braun temporal thermometer and there was only a .1 difference. As a parent, I absolutely LOVE the no contact feature. No more retaking temps because the kids are too fidgeting. I can quickly scan them and move along. It takes 2 AAA batteries, another plus as I don't have to buy those expensive little round batteries. This Vicks is quick and simple to use. Within seconds you have a reading. Just point and aim towards the forehead. The digital display gives results that are easy to read. Get it close to your kids forehead, hold the trigger for 2 seconds until it beeps, and it shows you the temperature with color-coding so you know green is good. It's all defaulted the way I would want right from the box and only took a few seconds to put the batteries (included) in and it was good to go! The other thing I like is that the mode button switches between Body (a person's temperature) and Surface (temperature of anything else). I tried taking my temperature 2 times in a row within a minute and it was exactly the same each time so it seems to be consistent. There is a memo button to track up to 50 readings, I'm not sure why you would use that...maybe to see your temperature over time? Put the batteries in and shine it against whoever's forehead you want to scan and it gives you the temperature. It also gives you a smiley face when you are not sick. This does not have a symbol telling you to move the thermometer closer if you are too far away, but the manual does have a diagram of where to use this thermometer, in the middle of the forehead, between the eyes and directly above the eyebrows.
