My oldest daughter is 11 and our VTech toys still work with my youngest today. They last for years! They do make noise and play music that some people might think is annoying, but my kids go back to those toys over and over....and they are all educational too! There are so many different songs, melodies, and animal sounds to hear with 3 different guitar styles to choose from. It has a cute little whammy bar and string slider that make sound effects or plays melodies. There is even volume control which is awesome. Not every &quot;session&quot; doesn't need to be a rock concert and soft rock is a joy to listen to. I love that it teaches music, instruments, animals and sing along's. It really gets our little lady movin&quot; and groovin'. She loves the animal songs and the whammy bar makes the animal sound while it plays. And the lights are a wonderful addition. It also shows 3 different genres of music. There is so much to do and listen to with this cute tiger guitar. It makes for hours of entertaining play. We love it and are learning music in such fun and interactive way. It has auto shut off too. So we don't worry about going through tons of batteries. This is a great toy for teaching music and animals. Our little girl is learning some pretty cute dance moves as well. It goes off after only a minute or two and you have to move the power switch back and fourth to start it up again. It would be better if pressing any key would reactivate after it goes into silent mode. My baby will go back and fourth between toys so I always have to get up and move the power switch for her. (In fairness, she is a few months under the recommended age). There's so many functions that my 1 year old didn't know what to do other than push the letter buttons, only because they lite up. She was uninterested in about 1 minute. My 4 year old actually played with it for a long time. She could at least understand how to play with it. It is very interactive. So I believe this toy is better suited for an older child. The box says for ages 1.5 years - 4 years old. I would say 2 or older.
