The sound level is pleasant on the ears even if you have a child playing with it for an hour in the car. It is not annoying like many toys with sounds. I have tried it with several children age 2 to 4 and they all found something they liked to do with it. I thought it was a little heavy for the two year olds. It is constructed well and everything about it including the packaging is spectacular.
