This VTech KidiStar DJ Mixer is an excellent example. The wide variety of interactive features offered by V-Tech are sure to keep a child occupied for hours on end! First off, it's bluetooth compatible! The DJ Mixer can connect to an external device wirelessly or with an aux-in jack (audio cable Not included). Secondly, aside from the 15 built-in song tracks, they can record their own custom sound effects and songs. (up to three 3 minute songs which can be downloaded and saved to an external device) With over 2000 sound combinations, the creative possibilities are only as limited as their imaginations. The DJ turntable is a super fun feature because when moved, it makes sounds similar to a real DJ's LP Scratch tracks. This VTech KidiStar DJ Mixer also offers sliders that control effects, as well as the ability to record &amp; listen to seperate tracks within the same song. It even features changing colored party lights that are bright enough to light up a dark playroom or bedroom! The built in speakers sound quality is better than I expected. So much so that I seriously have a difficult time calling this a &quot;toy&quot;. The box says for ages 5 and up, however, unless your 5 year old is extremely tech savvy, I would suggest that an adult be present. My 9 yr old grandson was able to follow the instructions without issue. He skimmed over the pamphlet and had this DJ Mixer up and working in no time. The VTech KidiStar DJ Mixer is powered by 4 AA Batteries. Be sure to purchase extras as the batteries it comes with are meant for display use only and will run out of juice relatively soon. I keep AA batteries stockpiled to assure that my grandson does not lose power in the middle of laying down tracks.
