It does transform and I would say this a good quality toy. It is easy for her to transform Medix the Doc Bot back and forth from car to bot. It is great for imaginative play. The rescue bot is made pretty sturdy as the one my daughter plays with has not only flown through the air on a regular basis it has also been crashed into things without any damage. So awesome is what my son says! They sit there and switch it back and forth while they play. Great imagination and playing together is nice to see. It helps that it's from his favorite character also. This toy seems very durable and easy to play with. It is very easy to transform from car to robot and back again. Small hands can do it with ease and leave their adult to do something else. It also helps with confidence if they can manage their toy alone in my opinion. This toy seems to be sturdy and I'm not overly concerned about pieces falling off and finding there way into our younger ones mouth or the bottom of my foot.
