Dr. Brown's were great at reducing airflow but the flow is just too fast- even the &quot;slow&quot; nipple. Our baby was unsatisfied when it came time for breastfeeding because I couldn't compete with that fast flow. The First Year's Breastflow let in too much air but has a great nipple. These bottles have the best of both worlds- reduced airflow &amp; a nipple that's close to the breast. I've never had a problem with leaking. My son is 12 weeks and I've tried every bottle out there - he loves his breastmilk and just wouldnt' take to the bottle, no matter who was feeding him. He would scream for 20 mn and fall asleep without eating before he would take the bottle. I was at the end of the line. Not too mention he spits up so much is almost doesn't seem normal, but doctor felt he was gaining weight just fine. Finally after a trip to BabiesRUs I saw these and decided to try them....he took to these his very first try, and he's eating like a champ from them even when I feed him. They are short and squat and I can hold him really close like when breastfeeding and he eats just fine. A note to those who are experiencing the nipple collapsing - we had the same problem until on a whim we tried the variable flow nipples. This one was just OK, I think it helped a little with the spit up and gas but the nipple is too soft, every time she tries to eat it collapses leaks. We went to buy new bottles AGAIN and started looking at these! I was just going to walk by them however my fiance wanted to look. The sales girl ultimately talked us into it because her child used them and she LOVED them. I said what the heck we can at least try them..and i was SO impressed..his tummy pains GONE..he is spitting up SO much less now he is a completely different baby! hes so happy now all the time! Dispite the price i couldnt wait to try them. The nipple looked and felt better than most of the bottles weve tried, and weve tried plenty. Our son is 2 months and has bad acid reflux which in return causes painful gas. we put 4 oz of breast milk in this bottle gave it to our son and in less than 7 min he finished it. With in this 7 min feeding the nipple inverted 2 times, and my son choked 3 times. The flow of the slow flow nipple is way to fast. It should just drip but instead it was flowing out the min we tipped it to put in is mouth. After the feeding, my husband played around with the bottle and discovered that the flow slowed a bit when he put in cold water, but when he put in warm to hot water the flow sped up. My third son has had reflux and is exclusively breastfed, so finding a bottle that he liked had been nearly impossible - he didn't like Dr Brown's, Born Free, Medela, Avent, even the Breastflow bottle! We tried these and he took them without fussing and drank the most he ever has from a bottle! I had been getting worried since I am going back to work soon and he wasn't taking bottles, but now I can rest easy. These bottles are wonderful, and he's had no trouble going back and forth between bottle and breast. The nipples are designed to move more naturally,however alot of the times during feeding you have to stop and pull it back up. The bottle does not fit very well in a standard bottle warmer. The first time we used them they were pretty great--a little faster flow than I expected. The second time is when I became pretty irritated. The nipple inverts so badly nothing will come out and then my daughter gets angry and starts screaming as I try to fix it. She doesn't like any delays or interruptions while she eats. I wanted to try these badly because we normally use Dr Brown's and they totally do their job but I get tired of the leakage from those but I clearly prefer leaking to a screaming hungry baby. She decided it was easier to drink from those bottles than the breasts so I took away the bottles she also had loads of gas. Then I found nuby it was supposed to mimic the breats but it didn't do a good enough job she was still super gassy and the nipple hole made her take in too much milk at a time. Nothing has worked as well as this bottle. It's cut his gas down so much (I swear there are no air bubbles ever with this bottle), and his spit up has reduced about 60%. My son also seems to really like the shape, he has been trying to hold his bottle EVERY time he feeds with it. I highly recommend this bottle. They also seem to be of the highest quality and very durable out of all the other ones I tried (listed above). It had been out for less than a week, but daddy really liked the venting system. We've been using it for about 2 weeks now, and we both agree that it's probably the worst bottle we've tried. We haven't had any leaking problems, and it works well with either formula or expressed breastmilk. We also like the heat sensing inner tube, though you should still be testing the milk on your wrist regardless. But the venting and anti-colic systems don't seem to do much more than those of other bottles. When I took a closer look at the bottle, I found that the anti-colic 'hole' is on the side of the inner wheel/lid piece, not in the nipple like the regular Tommee Tippee bottles. Also, the nipple is terribly designed. It may look more like a mother's nipple... but that's where the similarities end. It's constantly collapsing inward while feeding because the silicone is too thin and it can't withstand the pressure from the baby's sucking. And the slowest flow is still much too fast for a newborn breastfed baby. For how expensive this bottle is, I would not recommend it to anyone, especially breastfeeding moms. I have to say that I had A LOT of latching on problems, so I was worried about moving to a bottle, but I had to use a bottle as I was to going back to work. Additionally, my son had tummy troubles (e.g. gas, fussiness) so we tried this bottle. My son (2 months when we tried it) LOVED this bottle, he latched on immediately (from breastfeeding to this bottle no problem). Also, he was not gassy or fussy after using it. The bottle seems a much higher quality than other ones on the market, the nipple is a nice material and has these circular ridges and it seems like my son spits out less when using this bottle. Lastly, it's a nice easy to hold shape.
