My son has just recently gotten really excited about Thomas and Friends. When we gave this too him, he just lit up with a huge smile. I love that it was not difficult to get set up and it has basically a built in carrier. Cranky is the favorite part for my son, but he also enjoys that Thomas can move around the track too. This is a bigger set that I had anticipated, but not super huge. It is collapsible enough to make storage easy enough. I would recommend it for those kiddos who love trains and Thomas. I was certainly excited to see that it could close up with ease and even had a handle to be carried around with. This set is even easier to assemble than it seems. You unclip the latches holding it closed and attach the Cranky character. The trains slide on the track fairly easily. We used this in our living room, but because it is meant to travel, it could really be used anywhere there is a flat play area! The only downfall is that I have multiple grandchildren that wanted to use it at the same time, and with more than one set of hands it becomes too much. The stop sign comes off as well, which my 1-year-old granddaughter tried putting in her mouth multiple times. The Sodor Take-Along set is great because it&rsquo;s portable and you can expand it to make it bigger. I like how it folds up, has places to store Thomas and Cranky and has a carrying handle. My only complaint is the movable ramp can flap around when you&rsquo;re moving it. I think it should have snapped into place or had a little latch to hold it, but it&rsquo;s not a big deal overall. She has a larger Fisher Price Thomas and Friends set up at home that her father maintains, but in reality I think this is all most three year olds really need as it still has plenty to do while not overwhelming. The set was easy for my granddaughter to use on her own. It only required her to remove Cranky from the outer storage area and insert into the square hole in the base and to push the small stop sign onto the raised nub in the center platform. I do wish the stop sign was permanently attached since I think it could be easily lost and could also be a choking hazard if younger siblings were to get ahold of it. The metal Thomas doesn&rsquo;t require batteries and it&rsquo;s weight helps propel it down the sloped track area and can be pushed along with the cargo car to load the crate with Cranky at the bottom. My granddaughter was most taken with the turntable and the doors of the Tidmouth Sheds, but also very frustrated. Only the set of doors to the left opened to an actual opening where either the engine or the cargo car could enter and be locked in. The other two sets of doors open to flat walls faced with decals. It makes no sense why this was done, especially since the turntable track can be positioned to all three sets of doors but only entrance to one. They loved that Thomas Train came with a cargo car as well, and collected other &quot;cargo&quot; items as well as they did their play. The crane was easy to set up and being able to interact with it and make it move to transfer the cargo was great. In the top level, the three train storage rooms are a nice touch, but my kids kept wishing all of them were empty spaces to use a train storage, rather than just having one and the other two having pictures. The additional red door storage room on the bottom level was nice to have, but they wanted to store their other trains as well, and wished there was more room. The green doors for the storage room was a little hard to open for my kids, but they started just not closing it all the way, so that they don't have to struggle with grabbing the door handles and pulling on them. The rotating blue train track was very fun for them, but we quickly noticed how the Thomas Train + cargo car are too long to fit on the blue part. So when you turn it after it comes down to change the direction to make it continue down the gray tracks, the cargo car goes off tracks and bumps to the car storage structure. Same issue when going back up from gray tracks to green tracks. They learned to adapt and continue with their play, but it is not a smooth transition. Overall, it is a great train set that my kids are having fun with. My older autistic 15 year old son&rsquo;s only complaint is that the engines are not the look he is used to from the original toys we have. But it is a cute reboot on the beloved characters. The only thing I want to make others aware of is the two grass half circle stickers that go around the turntable. I thought they were the same size so I put them on wrong. We love the portability of this train set. We can pack it quickly and take it to grandmas and everything stores right inside of it. If we had more sets or track to connect it would probably hold my boys attention better as you can&rsquo;t make the trains venture far. The metal trains that come with the take and play set do not work on the wooden tracks we already own so it&rsquo;s a limited play with just one set. However, I can see the incentive to buy more of these to create a whole little village. Very easy to setup. My five year old can open the bottom -take out the crane and set the whole thing up in seconds. My only other negative is the bulkiness. My two year old loves watching the Thomas train roll down the tracks. My 6 year old like that it folds up. She wants to take it places now. My 4 year old likes to play a story time with it since it comes with a cargo for the train. As a parent I enjoy that it can fold up to be put away or take along on trips. We would&rsquo;ve like if all the doors that opened had a space for other trains. There&rsquo;s two at the top that just show pictures and if they had space then we could bring more trains with us inside when it&rsquo;s folded up. The colors are really nice and not in your face. It also seems really sturdy for a fold up toy.
