They still play with him. It's a very durable toy it has held up to lots of play. The battery is very easy to install and he is ready for the kids to turn on and off all by their selves. It came with a train car and they love putting little things in it and then watch it go. The only con for me was that the battery seemed to run down really fast. It&rsquo;s his first experience with a train that can move itself and has so much fun chasing it around. It&rsquo;s really well made and easy for my son to turn on and off and connect the train to the cart it pulls. The batteries are easy to install and extremely secure so I don&rsquo;t have to ever worry about anything coming loose . My son has enjoyed this very much . It is super easy to set up and get going, which is good for the younger kids. Once placed on the track it's only a flip of switch to get Percy on his way, and once he gets going he chugs along the track at a pretty good pace. The train car attaches to the engine, it is slightly challenging for little hands, but still a cute toy for little Thomas train lovers. The train does not fit on all tracks, just the Thomas brand ones. He has been played with for nearly two weeks and still looks new even though he has been dropped several times on our hard tile floor. He requires 2 AAA batteries (not included) and I was pleasantly surprised that the motor didn&rsquo;t make too much noise and the train didn&rsquo;t move too fast to be intimidating since my granddaughter can be skittish around mechanical toys. I did notice over the course of a few days of play that the rear motorized wheels of the main engine picked up loose hair, fuzz and a random length of dental floss from the floor and I had to pull strands out from the axle with tweezers and manicure scissors so the wheels could move more freely. It occurred to me that my granddaughter&rsquo;s long hair might get caught up in it much the same way if she were to play with it in the ON position on her lap or closeup. I&rsquo;m now careful to put her hair in a ponytail or just remove the batteries if I can&rsquo;t closely watch her while she plays. He just loves them. I thought the construction of the train would be like the one that came with one of the Thomas the Train sets but it was actually all plastic and lighter. I took out the train track I already have but my grandson insisted on playing with the train without the track. He had a blast all weekend. The only thing that is a little tricky is unscrewing the battery compartment to put batteries in. I figured it out but it was a little hard to put back together.
