It has an advent calender with a train revealed every day until Christmas. 24 trains is more than enough to keep the young ones entertained. The box even folds out into a play mat! Thomas has always been a winner in our household and this is another example of what it so fun and great. Also the trains have some really cute designs on them mainly themed for Christmas. The packaging was Fun and interactive. Each door could be removed and turned into an ornament, and the package wrapping had tracks printed on the back To race your trains every day. Each train was so cute! I was impressed by the detail on each train, The quality of the paint jobs was also very high. The wheels of all of the trains ran very well, and my children enjoyed making long trains by connecting all the minis together. The holiday theme trains were absolutely adorable. The collection also included some classic trains and sea creature themed trains as well. Overall I can&rsquo;t read this product highly enough. First off it&rsquo;s packaged very well. When you unwrap the outer box the reverse side is a train track which is great. Then each train is hidden behind a door that when removed can double as a ornament if you add a string! There are 24 different trains in all. They are the perfect size for little hands. The details on them are great. They also all connect so you can line them up and pull them around! From the very start the box is nice and sturdy. It opens like a book and is held together with a sleeve. That outer sleeve be careful with as it opens out into a track for your trains! Each of the doors are in sequential order which is great for counting and number recognition and becomes an ornament. My nephew can hardly wait to open a door that will reveal a mini Thomas locomotive. I actually let him preview the calendar by allowing him to open one window; he chose the 22nd day and we were pleasantly surprised to find Thomas disguised as Santa! (We returned him to his compartment and he will be allowed to unveil him on the 22nd day.) These minis are the identical version of the mini Thomas &amp; Friends we have purchased in the past. We love the surprise element of this advent calendar and look forward to the daily countdown during the holiday season. I appreciate that this calendar contains 24 different locomotives featuring Thomas and his friends. My nephew is already predicting which engines he will find as he opens each compartment. He was happy to find a new train every day. As a parent, I wished the quality was a little higher. The trains are the same size as the minis we already have but the seem lighter and not as substantial. The painting/colors don&rsquo;t seem as high quality as the normal minis, too. But I&rsquo;m just being picky. The set is great and will make a Thomas lover very happy. We also liked that the doors you open are ornaments but my eager kiddo kind of bent the first one in his excitement to open.
