Ended up taking the baseboard off the wall in order for it to sit at a right height. I do like that it doesnt have stationary bar across bottom like most I was searching for. It is sturdy enough to handle lots of use and is easy enough for busy parents to use with one hand. The support leg is key to it surviving kids standing on it while open. It is slightly inconvenient as it only fully swings one way when mounted in a narrow doorway, this is because the gate is big so it overlaps when not extended very far. We love this gate, will definitely buy more as we need to replace the others. The instructions absolutely were horrible and a screw broke as it was being installed and ended up stuck in our banister protector and yes we did pre drill all of the holes. It was easy to install with the template. Our baseboard to thicker than the extender they include but we easily put a shim in place and the gate sits straight and opens and closes easily. Easy to use with one hand and it sits flat against the wall when it's open. Nice that there is no bottom piece to trip on like some other gates. It feels nice and sturdy, even with our toddler shaking it and it looks great too! Yes, it is a PAIN to install correctly and more time consuming that you would hope, but once it's in, it is easy to open and close with one hand and blends into our home decor better than some of the more stark white plastic/metal ones on the market. It's held up for us over time with heavy use and looks great. Gate looks good but it was finicky to install. We had to notch out our baseboards to fit the bottom receiving wall mount at the correct height, the actual hinges are not all square so 2 of the gates get stuck and are very difficult to get back working. It is designed to slide back but it gets caught it you don't do it at level. My husband actually broke the bottom rail of one of gates trying to get it open because it got stuck. Stylish and easy to use.</span> <span itemprop="description">We use the gate in the doorway to our kitchen and stands up to heavy traffic. Took about 30 minutes to install and is very sturdy and safe. We've had it for close to a year now and it works great... I'd suggest making sure you use a level to mount it, this might help with some of the issues about it not wanting to slide. We tend to do a lot of entertaining and this gate can be removed (minus the permanently mounted hinges) very easily leaving the doorway open. It also opens the full width of the door frame, so in the evenings we can leave the gate swung open and we feel like real adults(lol) who don't have to hop cages to get a glass of wine.
