Unless the monitor is plugged into the charger, the screen goes into power save mode where you can hear but not see anything unless you hit the display button. I just prefer to have it on all the time. 2. There is a huge difference between the 3rd and 4th volume setting and I wish there was something in between. Again this is a personal preference for me and the only reason it even bothers me is because we use a sound machine which you can hear through the monitor. We put it in our older daughters room because she gets into everything and can open her door. We placed the base on her dresser and it rotates from one side of her room all the way to the other- it&rsquo;s just amazing because other monitors only rotate a little bit and it takes forever- but not this one. Another great feature is the zoom. Sometimes she has night terrors/talks in her sleep/ etc. and it&rsquo;s really nice to just zoom in on her rather than chance waking her up by going in. It zooms up close enough for us to see her without getting blurry which is huge!! I also like that you can rotate the camera while in the zoom mode! An unexpected feature that we weren&rsquo;t even looking for, is the sound/white noise button. While she doesn&rsquo;t sleep with a sound machine anymore , sometimes the neighbors can be loud whether mowing the lawn or talking, so I can simply hit the white noise button on the monitor and it plays on the base!!! Once again, I don&rsquo;t have to worry about waking her up by going in her room. The range of this monitor is also amazing. It says it has a range of up to 800ft and while I haven&rsquo;t used it that far, I have used it while I went out in the backyard and it was still clear as if I was in the house. With summer coming up, it will be nice to sit outside while the kids sleep and not worry about the monitor going in and out. It's so nice to be able to let her know that I'll be right there when she starts to fuss. It also allows me to try and soothe her back to sleep without going in the room. - The temperature sensor is an excellent feature because it allows us to see the temperature of the nursery without going in the nursery and disturbing our daughter. This is incredibly helpful because the rooms in our house can vary in temperature by 5-10 degrees. - The 6 level HD zoom is also a huge benefit since it allows me to really zoom in on my daughter. I can actually see her chest rise and fall, that's how close I can zoom. It definitely saves me from making 20 trips into her room to verify that she's still breathing. - The system is expandable and you can have up to 4 cameras rotate on the screen. We are actually considering purchasing a second camera for my 2 year old daughter's room to replace the older Summer Infant monitor that is currently being used. I love the idea of being able to rotate between both of their rooms on the same device. - The white noise and lullaby feature is awesome because I no longer need to have a separate white noise machine in my daughter's nursery. We have used white noise with both of our daughters and it's so nice to now have a monitor with that feature included. Overall this is an excellent baby monitor and I recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who is looking to purchase a high quality monitor. The Summer Infant Baby Pixel Zoom has exceeded our expectations in every way. The picture is crisp, clear both during daytime naps and at night. The controls are also easy to use and pretty intuitive. Our son is very active in the crib so we can now actually see EVERYTHING he is up to. Before on the Infant Optics monitor we were sort of guessing where he was in the crib because of the low picture quality. We are also going to be transitioning to a bed soon so are really looking forward to using the boundary feature to see if he gets out of bed.
