<span itemprop="description">We have 2 of these gates now, and I'm overall quite happy with them. Easy to open one handed. Make sure installed level vertically or the gate will not close easily. I do recommend you get protection pads for the walls thou, I haven't yet, and with a 1 year old shaking the gate there is some minimal damage.</span>

<span itemprop="description">Great gate overall kinda. It's a little awkward for staircases with spindles the pressure mount makes it where the spindle becomes crooked and you have to raise it off the ground if you have decorative baseboards, so there's a gap at the bottom. Plus the fact that it has a solid metal bar at the bottom, to me isn't safe at all it's a tripping hazard and dangerous for staircases. Maybe for entryway this would be better, but if you have baseboards you must raise it and therefore a tripping hazard.</span>

Hi, The opening is 18 inches (46 cm). Six months ago, I purchased 4 gates for my staires, and I am very satisfied.&nbsp;With the most durable metal frame, it&rsquo;s easy to fit and locks effectively. It can be opened with just one hand. Plus, the wood finishes matche with my staires :)
