It just makes me nervous in case he would ever slip and fall through the openings. Therefore, we bought a net to put up on each side and it works great! The climber is VERY sturdy, but assembly is somewhat difficult. It definitely helps to be &quot;handy&quot; or mechanically skilled. The 4 &quot;rocks&quot; each have 2 long screws with stars and acorn nuts that are &quot;challenging&quot;, to say the least... there's only a tiny bit of threading at the end of the screw for the nut to grasp. The climber has a total of 38 screws and I would consider an electric drill a necessity for assembly. That being said, the screws pull the plastic sections together and make the unit extremely sturdy, including the walls. If this unit is assembled correctly and tightly, it should be extremely stable and last many years. My husband is mechanically skilled. He and I assembled this in app 40 mins from open box to finish. I feel that 2 people are needed to assemble properly.
