Note: When putting together be sure to look closely to detail. I ended up putting the seat and one of the stands the wrong way and had to undo. If you can get a second person to help you, that's always a plus. Oh yes, I love the color. Called customer service for a replacement my first time because I was sent a defected one, but they handled it very good. I was a bit frustrated with it, but once I got the replacement it was great. Stamina customer service got involved and had another machine sent out in the next day or two. Otherworldly customer service - they called and emailed me to keep me up to date on what was where. New machine arrived soon thereafter. The machine is solidly built - feels like (is not, nor meant to be) commercial grade equipment. The chain is as thick as your thumb, so it's not likely to be an issue. Paint is powder-coat, not sprayed on, machine is very good looking. The machine is easy to use, and just what I wanted and needed to get back to a regular fitness routine at a reasonable price. The pull and motion of the fan and seat give me plenty of resistance and exercise. I am not expecting the performance of something 2x the price. This gives me all I give it, it doesn't flinch, and that's what I wanted. I don't expect a professional-grade row or pull from this machine. This machine is meant for, and squarely hits the budget consumer who expects higher quality at a slightly higher but reasonable price. Happy with the machine, must echo sentiment of others that the seat is uncomfortable for a long rowing session. The pull bar is nicely padded, no gloves needed. I have rowed on C2, which is the industry standard, and I have to say, that I could not feel a difference in the catch, pull or recover of this rower, compared with that of a C2. I have several clients that have used both, and they agree, that the feel is the same. I would still rate the C2 as the Gold standard, however, I give the Stamina X Air Rower a solid Bronze. There are 5 things that would make this great rower even better. 1. Give it a better warranty. It is an awesome product, so stand behind it. 2. Raise the fan assembly/chain catch. Currently it is placed a little low, but it only takes 2 minutes to adjust to this. 3. Give it a better computer. Or atleast have a metric/meter option, instead of just standard/mile. 4. Raise the computer to eye level. 5. Make it truly foldable to reduce the footprint when not in use. That said, at $399, compared to the $800+++ of a Concept 2, I had to atleast try it out! I plan to buy at least 1 more, and possibly 3 more! I called Stamina and they immediately shipped a new one under warranty, and the new one works fine. I'd like to give this unit 5 stars, but I just can't. I don't mind not being able to adjust the tension because I knew this when I bought it, plus it still gives me an excellent workout without the need to adjust the tension. But the seat??? In my opinion, it's way too small for an average size adult. I'm 6' tall, 225 lbs. And the seat looks like it would be about the right size for a teenage girl. After reading many, many reviews, I decided to buy this unit - especially since the description said that the seat was good for extra long workouts. Sorry, but I must disagree. I ended up putting a pad on the seat and it helps. I simply took one of the square pads I have that I normally use to sit on in the bleachers during sporting events and it feels much better. If the seat was bigger / more comfortable, I would have given this unit 5 stars without a doubt. But as I said, overall I'm pleased.
