It doesn't use any batteries or anything, instead it's the traditional pull-back self-winding kind of car. Set it on the ground, pull it back to wind it, let it go and it drives itself. It will also do a little wheelie while driving itself due to the inner &quot;leg&quot; under the car. My only suggestion really would be to make it wind up easier when pulling back, for the little toddlers. Currently you kinda have to drag it back quite a ways to get it fully wound. She loves all things, spider-man, now. This car is her favorite toy now, she plays with it all the time. The details on the car and character are perfect, the colors are very attractive for the kids. The pop-out wheel at the bottom is a very interesting touch, my kiddo loves to push it and see how cool the car looks as it goes across the room with front-wheel in the air. We have just been using it in the house, but I think it can be used outside, it is very durable. The colors are vibrant, and very appealing. The vehicle runs fast when pulled back and released.
