They are vibrant and easy to use. There is no strange odor. As beautiful as they are and very easy to erase on boards. Keep in mind to avoid contact with any type of fabric that you don't want messed up. I used a random cloth to wipe my chalkboard after using the marker. It did erase the blackboard but even with washing the cloth still had marker color on it. The only con is that I set down the paper towel that I used to wipe the marker for less than 30 seconds and the red stained my kitchen counter but other than that, nothing bad to report.
