<span itemprop="description">When I recieved this otoscope I was pretty excited to try it out. The packaging looked very cheap and flimsy which was a bit surprising for the Safety 1st brand, but I'm also glad it wasn't any thicker cardboard/plastic as that is wasteful. The otoscope itself also had a very cheap look/feel to it as well. If I was basing my purchase on looks, this would not be it! I tried it out on my kids right away, and even when pulling their ear in the proper direction, all I could see was the outer ear canal and wax. Oddly enough about a week later my 11 month old daughter started pulling on her ear. So I figured this would be the perfect time to try again. I tried again on her and my 5 year old son, with the same result. I can see a black "cave" where the ear drum would be, but the light shines on the outer area, not down in. Maybe it's too large to fit properly deep enough inside? Not sure, but unless the redness came all the way out, I wouldn't be able tell if there was any kind of issue. I was curious about the pricing so I googled and see that it is about a 25$ price range. I am shocked! If I had purchased this for anything more than a dollar or two, I would have returned it.</span>

<span itemprop="description">Asking your kid to sit still is the hardest thing. Taking a temp reading normally means someone feels sick or getting sick. Teens and adults can communicate how they feel but for babies and toddlers it can be very difficult. We've owned 2 other brand name forehead scanners. One that you had to slide across the forehead and one that you placed one inch away just like the Simple Scan. They all seem to read very similar. Some have better features than others. For the Simple Scan, I think that it picks up temps pretty quickly, roughly 3/4 seconds. I like that it's very simple. You can pick it up in the dark and check your child's temps easily. I also like that there's a quiet feature so it doesn't wake up the kiddos. It's a great idea to have the no contact feature, sometimes children feel scared and believe taking temps is like getting shots. The Simple Scan can help take away the fear, especially if you allow your child to take your temps. Even they can properly scan your forehead.</span>

<span itemprop="description">I was excited to try the ear otoscope. My son has chronic waxy ears and when I clean them, I wanted to be able to see what I leave behind. My first thought when I received it was that it looked simple. Maybe something I could actually figure out how to use. And I was right! The light is just bright enough to see without being overpowering in your eyes. The magnifying lens is crisp and clear and gives just enough enlargement. It also comes with a cover so you have no worries about scratches while storing. I ran around the house checking everyone's ears because it was easy and fun and at the same time, disgusting.</span>

Hello, thank you for your question! Per the instructions, While the thermometer is ON, press and hold the MODE and MEMORY buttons for about 1 second until you see the &deg;F or &deg;C. Release buttons.
