Putting it together was an exercise in frustration as the extension pieces are a pain to get in and stay in. They kept popping out on us. Once we got it together and pressure mounted to the wall we were very happy. Word of the wise it looks like the latch won't attach until you use the pressure mounts to push it tight against the walls. Don't be like us and think it is broken. 4 out of 5 only because the box arrived damaged and the pieces inside had some marks on them from shipping. Not enough to have us return it or anything. I love that they are pressure mounted so we don&rsquo;t need to screw into the wall. Doors open both ways unless you put the stopper on the bottom up. There is a green tab at the top that shows that it is properly closed. They are tall so I can&rsquo;t imagine a kid crawling over and our Great Dane and husky can not get past. The only thing that annoys me is that when you open the latch it squeaks on all three of my gates. The width of the gate was at the maximum for one of the extension options, but not wide enough for the larger extension option. This means that the 'feet' that secure the gate to the walls are pretty much fully extended, which means it's a bit wobbly and I'm not totally confident in the gate stability. Because it's not at the top of the stairs as originally planned, and only used occasionally at the grandparents house, it should be sufficient. I think for other door/hall widths, it would be a perfect option. We just have an odd sized area. Only other comment is that the product was a bit grubby when we received it, and the Safety 1st logo sticker was worn off on one side of the gate.
