<span itemprop="description">Would not recommend. Have had the gate 8 months and its garbage. The latch got super stiff after a few weeks making it extremely difficult to open and close. The "handles" used to adjust the gate stripped so that you need to use a pair of pliers to hold the screw in order to adjust the gate. The pressure mounted pads put holes in my wall. Very disappointing experience. I purchased another brand pressure mounted gate at the same time as this one and have had no issues at all with it. Do not buy!</span>

It is not the easiest to open and requires a certain amount of strength to slide one piece and then push another.
It does not latch closed automatically, it requires a bit of a slam to latch without using the same push/pull method as to open it.
As it was placed in a high-traffic area, I found it a pain to constantly pass back and forth, especially when I was carrying stuff.
I returned this one and bought another one by the same company which I find much easier to use.</span>

Did an exchange then that one was also defected and extender piece wouldn't fit into main gate. Had to exchange the gate again. Finally we had two working gates. I am happy with the end product but having to exchange a gate twice was a hassle. The gate itself is super sturdy and safe.</span>

<span itemprop="description">We have two of these. One is mounted top of stairs, other in a doorway. Both were gently used and stored carefully. Took them out to reinstall and BOTH gates have cracks on the upper hinge socket. Found a person selling s used one and his had same problem. Attempted to review on Summer Infant and they said feedback did not meet their requirements (only positive I guess). Can't repair because socket is riveted into place. Not safe for stairs anymore so very frustrating as we are past warranty period. Do not recommend this item.</span>

<span itemprop="description">We’ve had 3 types of gates for 3 kids. This one is my favourite. This gate installed quickly and is easy to use. We used to have a hinged gate that screwed into the wall and a cheap plastic pressure mounted gate that always seemed to fall down. We prefer this one as it locks/unlocks easier, is quiet and sturdy, and doesn’t need to be screwed into the wall. Considering buying a second one for the basement stairs. We have larger opening (42” wide) and this fits well, even without the extender.</span>

Hello! The gate is adjustable and was manufactured and tested to fit openings from 29&rdquo;-47&rdquo; using the two extensions (included) and is 36&rdquo; high.

I have 2 of these gates and so does my daughter. We haven't tried it against a banister but I would think it would work fine. Buy it, try it and if it doesn't work return it.
