I bought this for my children's sandbox and was shocked at how dusty it was. When I looked up the Quikrete safety informational document I was even more surprised that this is even allowed on the market. I will just copy and paste a piece from the Quikrete Material Safety Data Sheet for this play sand specifically and let you decide if you feel comfortable with your children playing with it: OSHA REGULATORY STATUS This material is considered hazardous under the OSHA Hazard Communications Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200). POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS: Inhalation: a. Silicosis Respirable crystalline silica (quartz) can cause silicosis, a fibrosis (scarring) of the lungs. Silicosis may be progressive; it may lead to disability and death. b. Lung Cancer Crystalline silica (quartz) inhaled from occupational sources is classified as carcinogenic to humans. c.
