Philips Avent Single Electric Breast Pump offers the comfort and convenience of fast, easy pumping at the touch of a button. It features 3 expression settings, all of which let you sit back and relax while the pump does the work. The pump features a soft massage cushion with textured petals intended to help gently stimulate milk flow by mimicking your baby's natural suckling patterns. For additional suction you can use the Power Cushion included. Unlike breast pumps that only operate properly when you lean forward, the our pump allows you to sit comfortably upright as you express, while the pump's angled neck lets milk flow naturally from breast to bottle. When you are able to relax, you can produce more milk. The breast pump has an uncomplicated design with a few, lightweight parts that are easily assembled and are dishwasher safe. You can also use it on the go with 4 AA batteries (not included). The collection container that connects to the pump also works as a bottle with the included natural breast-shaped nipple. The Philips Avent Single Electric Breast Pump is backed by a 2-year warranty. Replacement Massage Cushions are available in 19.5mm, 25mm and Power Cushions in 27.5mm.

It's easy to set up and operate, but I wish it was more forceful. It worked great in the mornings when I get stronger let down, but could have used more oomf later on in the day. When I received it I was so excited to try it out because I was a new Mommy getting ready to go back to work and I was in the process of trying to figure out what to use to pump at work. I love how simple this breast pump is to use. You can start it off on the setting to get your milk flowing then you just switch over to the speed setting to your preference. It worked out great for me. It’s small and compact and easy to disassemble to wash. One thing I liked most was that the cups come with a little insert you put over the cup so it’s not so uncomfortable on your breast while pumping. The only thing I would recommend is maybe getting a pumping bra so you can still do other things while pumping. First thing I noticed about this pump was how small and light it was. This pump I super easy to transport. It went together very easily and had two different silicone inserts. The neck of the flange was kind of short; I could imagine this would be an issue for some women. The pump only had a few suction settings which I was worried about, but it turned out the lowest setting was still slightly too strong for me. I felt like there just wasn’t enough ability to personalize suction and speed. But, all the pieces were easy to clean and it would be great for women who need to carry their pump around a lot.
Date published: 2018-04-15

Rated 3 out of 5 by Christrul from Gentle but Great on the Go [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Philips Avent Single Electric Breast Pump free thanks to Weespring to try out and share my review. Now, I'm exclusively breastfeeding Loki, who just turned 9 months old. He's 21 lbs and 27.5 inches, top of the charts, so my boobymilk is doing something right for him! At home, I have pump A that I use. In my work bag, I have my old pump B (leftover from my 11 months nursing Odin...but it's still my favorite). I always the best output with pump B. I've had the most practice with it obviously, but I can easily pump 4-5 ounces in less than 10 minutes (that's all the time I get for two of my breaks at work). Pump A, I can get 3-4 ounces but it takes closer to 15 minutes. It has so many different settings options that I'm sure I could find the right one, but the truth is...at home, there's no point. Loki is either on the boob, or he's not hungry. So now I've been able to try out a third pump, my first single electric, but I typically only pump one side at a time anyway (he only nurses one side at a time). I had high hopes for this bad boy! It's small, lightweight, and can even have four AA batteries plugged into it for on-the-go pumping!! None of those descriptions match my pump A or B! So I get everything washed up, then try putting this bad boy together. Ok, that's the first tricky part. A lot more pieces than either of my other pumps. Cushioning pads (it comes with two!), there was a cap (that's actually to put in the bottle when done pumping, but it looked like a different part in the black and white instructions). Took me longer to get the pump assembled than I normally spend pumping. Not good for work, where time is extremely limited, so can't take it to work. Ok, finally put together. Read the instructions to figure out what setting I should put it on. It automatically starts in a "letdown" mode, much like pump B. Awesome! That's my preferred mode on pump B because it gulps fast and strong like how my son eats! Plus, efficiency, let's face it. I can get more milk out quickly that way! Other than the "letdown" mode, it has three settings, indicated by flower-looking symbols there's light, which is just that...a very light, slow sucking. Medium...but still slow sucking. And then hard...but again, still slow. This was my biggest disappointment with the pump. I spent over 20 minutes pumping between the letdown mode and the hardest setting, and got the bottle on the left...2.5 ounces. Showing on the right, a bottle from a few nights ago pumped around 15 minutes with my pump A, 3.5 ounces. Now, I will add that there is one MAJOR feature that won me over. Because of this pump's setup, I'm actually able to set back and relax while pumping, not have to lean forward and sit up straight so the milk doesn't slosh out. This makes the extra few minutes at home pumping A LOT more enjoyable!! My overall opinion of the pump is fair. Every woman and every body is different. If you prefer a more gentle pump, then this pump is definitely for you! If you're like me and prefer something a bit more efficient and stronger force, it's not the best match. If you're someone on the go a lot, this pump would also be a great match for you! With pump B, I had to purchase a separate charger to use in my car.
Date published: 2018-04-15

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amy1656 from Excellent Single Pump [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent single electric pump. My favorite part of the pump is the comfortable massaging cushion. As far as I know, this is the only pump of its kind in terms of comfort. The "sucking" is very gentle and the cushion allows you to barely feel the power. This pump is extremely easy to operate and clean. I was a big fan of the design of the pump, as I am often trying to wrangle toddlers when I am pumping. The design ensures that milk does not spill if leaned over a bit. The cord wraps around the base of the pump to make it very easy to take to work or in your bag. My baby did very well with the bottle that comes with the pump. This has a huge advantage because you can pump directly into the bottle. The only disadvantage of the pump that I have experienced is the number of pieces. They are super easy to clean, however there are quite a few pieces to remember if you travel frequently. I was pleasantly surprised by this single electric pump. This is my 4th baby so I have utilized many different pumps throughout all of my years of breastfeeding and pumping. I have used everything from manual pumps to hospital grade pumps and everything in between. I was hesitant at first about this pump because I thought I would dislike only being able to pump one breast at a time. It ended up being quite the contrary. This pump is very lightweight and compact which makes it very east to throw in the diaper bag and take with you. Also the compartment for batteries is very easy to access without any extra tools which makes it extra convenient for people who are on the go. I currently stay home with all of my children so my baby is mostly breastfed which means I only need to pump in combination with feeding her which is why the single pump worked out perfectly. I was able to easily pump one side while she nursed on the other. The angle of the cones on this pump made it very easy to stay sitting upright as I do while nursing my baby and not have to worry about leaning forward to pump. The cones with this pump had very soft inserts with "petals" on them that helped to stimulate your breasts to let down milk much like a baby does by massaging the breast with its tongue. This pump was painless to use and very effective with the amounts I was able to produce during very short pumping sessions. It has a let down mode that you can use until the milk starts flowing and then has 3 levels of suction that you can used based on your preference of how much force you want it to pull with. One thing that really stood out to me about this pump after using so many different brands was how quiet it was. Most of the pumps that I have had experienced were so loud that I couldn't even stay in the same room as my baby or husband while they were asleep or they would wake up but with this pump no one even knew I was pumping. Another great feature of this pump is that you can pump directly into the bottle that you are going to feed baby with so you don't have to worry about transferring milk or washing extra bottles. The pump is very user friendly, easy to set up, not many parts to wash, not to mention they can go in the dishwasher if you want, and very effective for such a compact design. My baby took to the included natural bottle very quickly and didn't seem to have any trouble with swallowing extra air when drinking from it. This has definitely become my go to pump and I think it would make for an excellent baby shower gift or a perfect registry item for an expecting mom with plans to breastfeed.
Date published: 2018-04-14

Rated 5 out of 5 by TinkaMamaSmalls1 from I love this pump! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never used a breast pump before mainly because I was scared to use one. I thought it would hurt and what would happen if it got stuck on me and I couldn't get it off? I mean that could happen, right? Well maybe, but with today's technology I'm sure they worked all the bugs out by now. These were the things going through my mind when weeSpring's Parent Panel sent me a Phillips Advent single electric breast pump for review. First off when I opened the box I was very surprised how lightweight it was and when I finally got up the nerve to try it out and was completely surprised. The cushion that you put your breast in was very soft and it has these things inside that they call petals. The petals stimulate your breast much like a child would while suckling. The best part is that it had three settings so you can adjust it as to your liking, and mood. The pump is very quiet so you won't disturb dad or the kids while they sleep. You could also use it discretely if you are away from home, especially if you are a working mom who needed to express immediately, you could easily duck into the bathroom without anyone even knowing. You can express while just sitting upright or even standing and you don't have to lean into it. The flow comes naturally all you have to do is relax and let it happen. The pump also comes with a bottle with a nipple much like ours, making it easy for the baby to take. They also throw in some pads for you to use. If you are a traveling mother this set up would be perfect for on the go. It is also very easy to clean. Take it from a non believer, you need one of these in your life, especially once they get those teeth! This would also be an excellent choice for that up and coming baby shower and I'm sure she will be thinking of you every time she uses it. This is a great product and I highly recommend it! As a mother of three, with a baby with latch issues, I needed a pump that worked efficiently and quietly. While I ultimately settled on a different dual pump, the Philips Avent Single Electric Breast Pump did it's job. It's not the quietest, okay, its loud, but the portability certainly makes up for it! Frankly, it's just not a workhorse style pump. I seemed to get less milk using this pump than others. It would probably be better for someone who needs to pump occassionally on the go. (This pump fits easily into a diaper bag!) The shield is comfortable, which I liked. I use Phillips bottles and loved that I could pump directly into them, which kept things simpler. With my first son I have to supplement and eventually switch to formula due to some unfortunate circumstances. I had breast augmentation surgery many years before, but had damage stemming from this that makes breastfeeding a challenge. I also had an emergency C-section again and a late premature baby (who was a decent nurser, but sleepy). Breastfeeding was a lot of work and around the clock, especially in the beginning. I used a double breast pump after feeding trying to boost my supply. I. Also one of those women who does not respond well to a pump, making pumping difficult and frustrating. Fast forward a few months into breastfeeding, and my son decides that he doesn't want to nurse from my left breast. Due to this, my supply in that breast tanked. I came across the Avent Single Electric Pump and started to use it on the left breast while my son nursed on the right. I will mention I had tried doing this with my double pump by closing off one side of the pump, but was still having issues with my supply. Double pumping between feedings was only yeilding dribbles from that side. The Avent pump is by far the most comfortable pump that I have used (out of 3 top brands). The flange is soft and was able to extract more milk that the other pumps. Within a few days to a week my left breast was back in sync with my right (and may have produced slight more than the right). Once the production was back up in that breast my son began nursing from that side again (still not his preferred boob, but he nursed long enough to keep up production). My son, not a big bottle fan, also liked the bottle and nipple that came with the Avent pump. This pump doesn't replace a double pump for trying to increase production in between feedings or as a speedy pumping process while away from baby, but it is superior when trying to increase production on a single side or for collecting milk on the opposite side while your baby nurses from one side. I wish the double pumps had such a comfortable flange. The different suction levels and let down button are also helpful although in my situation I needed the high suction each time.
Date published: 2018-04-13

Rated 2 out of 5 by babycmama from comfortable, but didn't work for me [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a lot of experience using many different pumps. That said, it's a great little pump for traveling or long days out of the house (fit right in my larger purse).
Date published: 2018-04-13

Rated 4 out of 5 by Gfrin from Works well, comfortable, quiet, compact and lightweight [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 6 month old that is exclusively breastfed. I am a stay at home mom so do not generally need to pump during the day. He still wakes up to nurse in the middle of the night so that is when I generally do my pumping session. This pump is very comfortable to use. Its also quiet. (This is my second baby so Ive tried 2 other brands before and I think this one is not as loud). This is great for me because my baby falls asleep after nursing and I pump after, so Im careful to keep things quiet so he dosent wake up. Its efficient and powerful enough so I don't have any trouble getting milk out. I believe it is a closed system so you do not have to worry about getting milk or any moisture in the tubing and causing mold issues as I know can be a problem with other pumps. Its small and light and really easy to clean. I haven't had to take this pump out and about but I could easily throw this in my diaper bag...but I do carry a huge diaper bag lol. Someone who pumps during the day may never notice this, but one issue I had with the pump is that at night it can be a bit bright. So I keep it covered with a baby blanket but it is hard to find the buttons for the various settings until you get very familiar with it. It also does not have that automatic "let down" setting im used to from using another pump. You can do it manually of course, but I liked that function and wish this pump had that feature. Overall, id definitely recommend this pump. It looks very sleek and modern looking too. For background, I used the breastpump five to six times a day, pumping 4-6oz per breast per pumping. Given how much time is spent pumping, this is an important purchase! The Philips Avent Single Electric Breast Pump has limited drawbacks, however, two standout for me. The first one in my mind is that it is a single breast pump. Despite the four star ranking, I encourage mamas to purchase the double to increase efficiency if you are going to be pumping regularly. If you are buying a pump as a backup option or for occasional use then the single pump might be worth it. The other major drawback is the lack of power in the highest suction section. Again, if you are pumping multiple times a day, 7 days a week, I hesitate to recommend the single breast version. I did not list ease of cleaning below in pros or cons. I felt very neutral about it because its a similar amount of work compared to other pumps. I was very much in need of an electric breast pump because I only had a manual one. This product made it easier to pump milk. I also loved the setting options of how fast to pump. The highest one is pretty fast. It was so convenient I used it more than my manual one. However, I didn’t really like that it was an electric breast pump for ONE. If it were for two it would be perfect. It also isn’t heavy like most so I was able to take it along with me on long hours away from home. I loved a few things about this pump, it is so quiet my husband didn't even realize I was pumping while using it. It is very comfortable and easy to use. I also like that I am able to pump directly into the bottles my daughter uses if that is the plan. There were fewer customization of suction options than the other pump I have tried. The strongest suction was verging on stronger than I was comfortable with at times. I would also like a battery or car option as one of the times I use my pump most is during travel. Over all it is a great little pump, and if only pumping on one side it is now my go to. I am not a heavy user of my pumps, mostly just to allow my husband the opportunity to feed our daughter, or so we can go out for a night.
Date published: 2018-04-13

Rated 5 out of 5 by AmyS27 from Small but mighty [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you are a mom on the go, this is the pump for you. I initially scoffed at the thought of using a single (double saves time!), but this pump is quite efficient. The pump weighs one pound, but has a really strong motor. It isn't loud- I've pumped in a hotel room with my baby and the noise did not bother her. Because it is so light and compact, this is the pump I bring to work and on travel. I'm able to pump as much as I do with my double electric pump from another brand. It's comfortable to use too- I only need to use the "let down" button and then the first level suction button to pump. There are an additional two more power suction button settings you could apply if you needed more amp. It's also super easy to set up and clean. I pump directly into Philips Avent natural bottles to have milk ready for my baby for the following day. We've switched from another brand's bottles because this setup is so easy for me to pump and store. The pump was not difficult to use much easier than some others. I personally wasn’t able to express quite as much as when using another brand however I was able to express enough to feel relief and provide for my infant. I did customize the settings which was a nice feature and created a more comfortable pump. As far as setting up and cleaning the pump again there were no issues few parts and easy to clean. My son took to the natural bottle really without difficulty, latching on and seemed to be provided with a good amount of best milk as some others f the slower nipples have been a little too slow. The only real complaint is that I enjoy having the ability to express both breast at the same time and with this pump you are unable to do so. This is really a big convenience with other pumps and with working it’s something I enjoy due to the shortened time. I was very successful at expressing breastmilk with this pump and the closed system means that there is little cleanup needed in order to be able to use it again quickly. The setting options are very helpful in making the pump comfortable and efficient, though they are limited compared to other brands. The Natural Bottle is a nice change from some of the other brands and my daughter liked the bottle more than other brands as she was less gassy after using this bottle compared to several other brands! What I did like was that it was small and compact. The pump made very little noise, especially compared to others I've tried. Setup was super easy- I was basically able to use it right out of the box. I did not like that the soft silicone, which was marketed as a feature, attracted way too much dust. Just from time I opened it to the time I used it there was already a coating of dust and some dog hair - despite never leaving the box. I also found that a single pump is just not for me. I need to have baby propped up on a pillow to feed him, so there was no way to pump and breast feed simultaneously. And if I was just pumping I simply did not see the benefit. I always just do both at the same time to stimulate production and make sure the breast has been emptied. I guess if these are not concerns then a single pump would make more sense. I did not feel this pump was very efficient/powerful in extracting milk. Even at the highest setting I was wishing for more. Finally, I felt that, at the size it was, the pump should have an option for batteries instead of AC adapter. This wasn't so much of a complaint as it was a way to improve the pump. It was so small that I wished I could just strap it onto my pants and be mobile while I pumped.
