As a new mom expecting I do plan on using of the Philips amazing baby products because I find them to be quite lovely and never encountered any issues. I actually bought the newborn bottles for my sister who gave birth to twin boys and she cannot stop raving about how much she loves the bottles. My nephews took to the bottles right away so she was able to easily switch between feedings. I have never had a problem except one had a chip on the rim so I disposed of it. Currently, I have 6 bottles that I use. I loved the idea of glass bottles bc of decreased risk of theoretical plastic leaching with use and sterilization. However on rewarming, the bottom of my bottle fell off. Fortunately, it broke while rewarming in a bowl and not in my hand or worse, while feeding my baby. I don&rsquo;t know if there are problems with the batch but 7 months of use seems to be really short for the glass to fall apart. I had no choice but to supplement and get her used to bottle feeding very early on. We tried several popular brands, but wanted a bottle that worked for her and also that didn't have a million parts to wash. We received this Philips Avent Gift Set and started off with the Philips Avent 4oz. bottles and we are up to using the 9oz bottles now. She loves them and so do we! She has had no problems switching back and forth from the breast to the bottle or the soothie pacifier. The bottle lids are a little hard to pop off, but we really only use a lid when we are on the go. The bottles are very easy to open and close with one hand! They do not leak and she has had no problems with colic or tummy issues. We like the different flow rates for the different nipples, but it is inconvenient having to try and find the correct number in the middle of the night. The numbers are hard to see when you're in a hurry. Since my daughter is mostly on formula, we do not use the bottle warmer very often; but it is very easy &amp; quick to use. The formula dispenser is perfect; the lid is so easy to open and close! It doesn't pop off so hard that you get formula everywhere, and the dividers are removable so you can use it as a snack container later on. Double duty products are the best! The bottle brush I do not like because there no way to stand it up so it can dry. There's a hole in the handle so you can hang it, but I have nowhere for it to hang. It does clean the bottle nicely and very easily, but I don't feel like it cleans the nipple very well. The soothie pacifier is the best! It was recommended by the lactation consultant at our pediatrician's office and our daughter loves it! This gift set would be a great baby shower gift for new parents. Our son stopped spitting up so much, he was less gassy and he had fewer burps. So far we've only been able to use the 4 oz bottles but plan on using the 9oz once he's bigger. I also like that there is no air vent hole I need to keep track of when feeding. Also, I believe the wide base is an easier transition from breastfeeding to using the bottles. The wide opening also makes it easier to add water and formula or breastmilk and easier to clean. I also appreciate that they are BPA free. The bottle brush that comes with the set is nice and the formula to-go container is very handy. I would definitely give this set as a baby shower gift and I would have loved to receive this! Of course, those were the one product that were not a hit with him or us! He loves the Soothie pacifiers and does not use anything else. As parents, we like the formula dispenser, although you have to pay attention to make sure there isn't formula left in the container as it does get stuck in the corners when tipped upside down to dispense. The bottle brush also works great getting into the deep corners of the wide-based bottle. So here was the issue with the bottles. Our son took to them fine and there didn't seem to be in problems until shortly into the feed when we started noticing a large collection of milk in the corners of his mouth. This continued to build throughout the feed and eventually the milk was streaming down his face and into his neck. We tried the bottles through multiple feeds, but the problem persisted and this was something we hadn't experienced with other bottles. Other than that, I do like the design of the bottle as they are easy to grip and comfortable to use while feeding. I had breastfed my older 2 children, and wanted her to have the same experiences. For me, it was a bonding time with my children and it helped me to connect with them and them to connect with me. However, I am a full time employee as a store manager in retail. I work 40+ hours a week and had to go back to work 6 weeks after my youngest daughter was born. I still wanted to give her the world, but my husband had difficulty getting her to take bottles. First we tried the bottles with the bags that helped remove gas in them. My daughter wanted nothing to do with them. (You know which ones I'm talking about? The ones where you dump the milk into a plastic bag, slide it into the bottle and squeeze the air out before giving it to the baby?). Next we tried expensive multi-piece bottles, which she took but we ended up with nipple confusion and she wanted less to do with me when I was home, which was absolutely not what I wanted to go on. Finally, weeSpring Parent Panel sent me an email that I qualified to test some bottled in the Phillips Avent Gift Set. My daughter already LOVED the Soothie pacifier she had received at the hospital, so I was ecstatic to try the bottles from the same brand. Let me tell you, these bottles have been a lifesaver! My daughter is now 5 months old and she drinks only from the bottles I received in this gift set. The nipples are wide enough that she doesn't suffer from nipple confusion, and the shape of the bottle is perfect for her little hands to grab onto while my husband feeds it to her. She also has had very minimal gas since we have started using these, to the point where we don't even have to give her gas drops anymore! I loved that it came with 2 different sized bottles as now we can continue to use these until she starts to eat more solids and wean off of milk. We don't use the formula dispenser since we don't use formula, however I have discovered it has other uses. It's a small container that has an inner insert that separates the container into 3 areas. It is perfect for snacks on the go. I have used the inner separator to house veggies and dip before as well. The bottle brush is insanely helpful at getting all the little areas of the bottle clean and spotless so that my baby has the cleanest bottle even when we don't have time to run it through the dishwasher. Speaking of that, the fact that this gift set came with multiple bottles makes it so that we can usually leave the bottles in the sink for the day, and have time to clean them every night when my daughter goes to bed. We never really have to rush clean a bottle before giving it to her. All in all I would 100% recommend this gift set to any and every parent who has an infant to feed. Whether it is with formula or breast milk, it is fantastic for keeping baby happy and healthy. I should know, my 5 month old daughter I have referred to throughout this review is 18lbs now! As first time parents, immediately having a couple of bottle sizes to choose from was great for us as our son needed much more milk much more quickly than we ever would have anticipated before he was born. Already having the 9oz bottles there ready to use was a lifesaver. It also helped that we could switch the size 1 nipples from the 4oz bottles with the size 2 nipples from the 9oz bottles. As a breastfeeding mother I wanted to make sure that he didn't get used to a quick flow nipple when bottle fed and then refuse my breast. However the wide breast shaped nipple promotes a natural latch on similar to my own breast and my son has had an easy time combining breast and bottle feeding without nipple confusion. We LOVE that the bottles have only a small number of pieces to clean. Four total (pictured). The bottle, the nipple, the ring to secure these pieces together and the bottle cap. That's it! Other bottles on the market can have upwards of SEVEN pieces but the Avent bottles keep it nice and streamlined. It's only when you have a screaming baby in the back ground hungry for food and you're desperately trying to clean/put a bottle together that you realise how important this is. It's an added bonus that the bottles are so lightweight - they are super easy for my son to hold even when its a full 9oz bottle. The only reason I've taken off one star for this set is because a nipple brush isn't included. The bottle brush does a great job but to get the nipples properly clean you need a specific nipple brush to get in there and it's disappointing that you have to go and purchase one separately. However, she easily took to the Philips Avent bottle, and I didn't notice any increase in her reflux. I'm thrilled that she can eat comfortably without my having to wash and store additional bottle parts! I also thought the formula dispenser was really helpful for taking formula with us on the go. The size of the neck on the dispener worked great for the Philips Avent bottles, but when I tried it with another bottle brand with a thinner neck, the formula spilled out around the sides. It would be great if it included a little funnel to ensure that all of the formula makes its way into the bottle without spilling. I wasn't a huge fan of this bottle brush&mdash;I prefer a brush that stands on its own so as to take up less space on the counter. I also like when brushes have a sponge/bristles on top so that you feel like you're really able to clean the bottom of the bottle (this brush only has bristles on the side, so it was a little awkward to clean with. Our girly is paci obsessed and she loves the Soothies pacifiers. I do wish they stayed in her mouth a little better during bedtime, but she won't even take another brand at this point.
