I have heard many stories that if I give her breast milk in a bottle, she may not want to nurse anymore or she may prefer to be nursed only and not take the bottle. I know I will want to be able to go back and forth between nursing and bottle fed so it was important for me to make sure I picked the &ldquo;right one&rdquo; for my baby. With so many brands nowadays, I have tried four different bottles. Luckily, my baby was easy going. She took all the different bottles and was able to go back and forth between nursing and bottle. As a parent, I prefer Phillips Avent bottles. Why? Here are the reasons: 1. They are super easy to wash and sanitize. With all the pumping parts and bottles, sometimes it takes me 20-30 minutes to wash all the parts. So thank you Phillips Avent bottles for making all parts reachable with just one bottle brush. 2. Along with the washing and sanitizing&mdash;it is easy to put together when there is a hangery baby crying in the background (or in your arms). Only three parts! Nipple, cap and bottle. 3. With its design being wide and stalky looking&mdash;it is easier to warm up milk in a milk warmer (in the Avent milk warmer). The milk was able to warm up evenly. Since I am not using formula, I actually use the formula dispenser to store pacifier when I am out and about. It is a cute little container and I could see using it as a snack holder when she is older. She likes the smoothie pacifier. With the hold in the middle, I was able to use it not only as a pacifier but also use it to give her medicine without a fuss. The last thing I want to see if making my baby cry when she is already not feeling well. Overall, I am super pleased with the Phillips Avent Gift Set. Love the bottles and the accessaries that came with it. I would definitely recommend expecting parents to add Avent bottles to the registry and would definitely give this gift set as a baby shower gift (which I already have!). My little guy (5 months old) has taken to the bottles very well. He has acid reflux, so a good bottle that helps vent the air out is a must. This bottle does the job. The bottle is very easy to clean but I didn&rsquo;t like the cleaning brush that comes with the set. I prefer cleaning brushes that have suction cups on one end so it stands by itself. My son doesn&rsquo;t like the soothie pacifier or any other pacifier he prefers his hands. So over all I really liked the set and would buy these bottles if I needed more. My 3 month old took to the bottles easily and is able to transition between these at daycare and nursing at home. I'm happy that I have some bigger bottles ready in my cabinet for when he starts needing more milk. I have not used the formula dispenser yet as he is exclusively breastfed. The bottle brush does the job and is easy to use. However, I wish it came with a different attachment brush for cleaning the nipples more thoroughly. Overall, this is a wonderful set of products! I received a few different types of bottles for my baby shower so when he was born we tried out a few. Some were good, some leaked, and some were just a pain to wash and at the end of a long work day taking time to wash tiny parts of bottles was not too appealing to me. Luckily for me my son never had &quot;nipple confusion&quot; so I was able to try different nipples without worry that he would not latch on after bottle feeding. However, I can see the concern other moms may have when going back and forth from breast to bottle. The new Philips Avent Newborn Starter Kit with wide breast-shaped nipple is by far the closest to my own natural shape. I noticed the way my son took the Avent bottle nipple was more like a breastfeeding latch, compared to other nipples where it seems like he's drinking rather than latched on. Another great aspect of the Avent bottle is there is only 3 parts to wash, and the wide design makes that even more simple. I received the complimenting bottle brush, which I love because it scrubs it clean and has a nipple brush at the other end. The package also contained a formula dispenser, which I don't use because I'm exclusively breast feeding and pumping, and a Soothie pacifier which my son refuses to take. All in all this is a great bundle package and I have officially transitioned to using Philips Avent bottles only because my son likes them and their ease to clean. However, I also knew I would be going back to work after my 12-week maternity leave and my son would be going to daycare so bottles would have to be introduced before that. Initially I decided to try Philips Avent bottles because they were compatible with my breast pump (Spectra S2) which meant I could attach them directly to the pump and it was one less step in the time consuming process that is pumping. I also liked that they were dishwasher safe and didn&rsquo;t have a million parts to clean individually like many other brands. My husband and I started by introducing our son to the 4oz bottles when he was 9 weeks old. He took to these bottles immediately and had no problem transitioning from the breast to the bottle. Before we knew it our little baby was eating more than 4oz in a sitting so we transitioned him to the 9oz bottles and since it&rsquo;s the same nipples, he didn&rsquo;t skip a beat or notice the difference which delighted us. I also love dropping him off at daycare and putting his bottles in the fridge only to see that 90% of the other babies are also using the same Philip&rsquo;s Avent bottles &ndash; they are excellent and for working parents they are a high quality product that doesn&rsquo;t require extensive parts cleaning or assembly which makes them easy to fill them and go. The bottle design is very smart &ndash; both the 4oz and 9oz models are wide enough that it is very hard for them to be knocked over when they are weighed down with liquid in them (I have bumped into them on numerous occasions and held my breath worried I would have milk everywhere but they really do not tip over when full which is fantastic). And, even if they do accidentally fall off of a surface and onto the ground (as they frequently do now that we have a 5.5 month old who likes to hold his own bottle and then gets distracted and drops it), the nipples do an excellent job of containing the liquid and not leaking. The bottle design for both sizes is also the perfect width for my son&rsquo;s little hands as he has learned on this bottle how to wrap his little fingers around an object and hold it on his own. When I returned to work after maternity leave I had a very hard time pumping and maintaining my milk supply so my husband and I knew we would need to introduce formula for our son but didn&rsquo;t know what we needed to carry with us in case we needed to make a bottle while we were away from home. The formula dispenser travel container is fantastic for carrying premeasured formula with you when you are on the go. The container has a great seal so you don&rsquo;t need to worry about it accidentally opening in your bag and the lid that opens for the formula to be poured into the bottle is large enough that the formula powder doesn&rsquo;t get jammed but small enough that it goes right into the bottle and not everywhere. I love how it has three separate sections to hold three separate servings (i.e. three bottle feedings) but that the interior that is split into the three sections is actually a removable insert (so you can also use the container as your child grows older as a snack container without the sectional dividers). The bottle brush is great and I&rsquo;ve used it for a deep scrub of the nipples and bottles a few times but to be honest I just disassemble the bottles after each use and put them in the dishwasher which has worked out beautifully (especially for our busy schedule as two full-time working parents). Last but certainly not least is the Soothie pacifier. This is the same pacifier that we were given in the hospital for our son and continues to be the only one that he likes and doesn&rsquo;t spit out. I love how it is a single piece of soft plastic (versus other pacifiers that have hard plastic shells on the exterior which I always worried could break off) and that it is easy to clean. The name is adorable and accurate &ndash; this pacifier is a miracle worker truly soothes and comforts my son when he has it in his mouth. Let's get into the products: 4 oz and 9 oz bottles - My baby had a diffucult time at first latching onto the 4 oz sized bottles (he has been both brestfed AND bottle fed). He got a lot of air in while sucking, which caused major burping and some milk loss.. I would have to stop feeding (angry baby) and burp him. We stopped using for a few weeks and then tried again. This time we had trouble with the nipple sitting/fitting correctly in the ring lid. That also caused lots of milk waste. We skipped the 9oz bottles because he wasnt ready for the 'size 2' nipple. Formula dispenser: I absolutely love this product.From the color and easiness to clean. The dividing insert comes out for future use of larger amounts of formula or snacks! Out of all of the products given to me in this set, this was my #1 favorite. Soothie Pacifier: My baby loves these. I do too! Easy to clean, and they are super affordable. Love the green color as well My only problem with them is if they fall on hard floors, they bounce FAR.. Bottle Brush: Cleans bottles wonderfully. Bristles are soft and clean the bottle great. The design of the brush kind of wastes soap. You will see it slide down the handle. My daughter loves the soothie pacifier even though she can't keep it in her mouth without help (she has a very small mouth). The bottle brush is very comfortable to use, but the part that is suppose to clean the bottle nipples didn't really clean all that well. It was easier to clean the nipples by hand then try and use the hard plastic nipple &quot;brush&quot;. I really like the formula dispenser. Its compact, easy to use, can be sterilized in the microwave and when your child no long needs formula, you can take out the divider part and it becomes a snack cup (I have yet to use this feature since I have a 5 month old). I do like the Avent bottles and my daughter was able to latch on very easily, however I was very disappointed at the quality. All 3 of the 4 oz bottles and 1 or both of the 9 oz bottles leaked. If I was using breast milk instead of formula, I probably through the bottles away. It could have been just a bad batch of bottles, but I don't know that for sure. I think the gift set is a great idea, but I can't recommend the Avent bottles. I would recommend giving this as a gift to brand new mothers but because of the size of the bottles (3-4 oz and 2-9oz) would not recommend giving it after the first month since, once my son was 2-3 months old, he was already drinking 5 oz per feeding thus making the smaller bottles not practical. Since my son is fed both breast and bottle, he likes the wide nipple but I have found that it leaks a bit on the larger bottles that have the medium flow (stage 2) nipples. The formula dispenser is very helpful for pre-portioning formula for quick middle of the night feedings and before leaving the house so you don&rsquo;t have to keep cold mixed bottles. Also turns into a great snack holder for older kids. The pacifier is my go-to favorite one for the first trimester. The bottle brush has bristles so does not lather the same way that a sponge brush does- not a problem if you wash the formula bottles right away but not great if the dirty bottles have sat in the sink for a bit. Our little guy had feeding issues, was unable to form a good enough seal in order to breastfeed or use age appropriate bottles/nipples. As a results, he was on very slow flow bottles and the flow of the Avent bottles were too fast for him. While our lactation consultants did suggest we try bottles like the Avent bottle, since it had a wider base which is more like a breast, our little guy just couldn't form a good seal on it. The soothie has been great! But later than the indicated age range on the packaging. Our guy was able to use the soothie closer to 4 and 5 months. I'd recommend patience for parents trying out these products. If they don't work at first, try them again in a month or two. The soothie has an indication of 0-3 months, but we've found that it was actually better later than that! The bottle brush and the formula dispenser were fine, but nothing special. The formula dispenser did the trick - but we prefer another method to carry around formula. The pacificer was a hit - my daughter loves it! The only ding I would give this is the bottle brush. I loved every item in it. My sons are now 20 months and 5 months. My oldest gets some formula before bedtimes and my youngest is a breast feeder with some supplemental formula included throughout the day. I loved that this kit came with two different sized bottles, and two different flow nipples. While using the set my youngest moved up from the 5oz to the 10oz bottles so it was convenient that I already had them on hand. The bottle brush is perfect for getting stubborn formula clumps out of hard to reach places. The formula container was easy to use and easy to travel with. I simply filled it before leaving the house and tossed it in the diaper bag. We had no spills or concerns. Unfortunately my youngest wouldn&rsquo;t take the included pacifier, after several attempts I gave up and threw it away. It was a nice solid piece though so if your child takes a pacifier you wouldn&rsquo;t have to worry about moldy parts. We&rsquo;ve all seen those viral videos! Yuck! Not here. We had previously tried some 5 oz Avent bottles and newborn nipples with our daughter when she first began bottle feeding. While still switching between breast feeding and bottle feeding our daughter had zero problems with nipple confusion while using this Avent set. Since exclusively formula feeding we have only been using the Avent bottles. The nipple design is the one she took to the best. Our baby hasn&rsquo;t suffered any colic or excessive gassiness since using the Avent spiral design nipple. The Soothie pacifier is the only pacifier that she will take. We like the design and the fact we can stick our finger inside and help keep it in place, otherwise she would spit it out and get upset. The only downside to this package is the bottle brush. It worked fine, but we still much prefer other bottle brushes. The design could be improved upon. To be honest my husband confused the Avent bottle brush with our regular dish brush, and it ended up working more Efficiently as that, so we went back to our other bottle brushes. The covers I only have used a few times. We haven&rsquo;t needed them often, yet, however we have some travel coming up that it may be handy for. So far they have just been kind of lying in their container. We decided to introduce bottles with breastmilk to get her accustom to bottle feeding. We decided to get a couple of different types to see which ones she liked best. We received the Philips Avent gift set that had 4 oz and 8 oz bottles, soothies pacifiers, formula dispenser and a bottle brush. We didn't have a need for the formula dispenser although it looks like it could be a good snack container when our baby gets older so we plan on keeping it for later. Our baby unfortunately wouldn't take the pacifiers but we haven't found a pacifier that she really likes at all. The bottle brush worked well for cleaning these bottles but also small bottles that go with my breast pump. The only thing we didn't like about the bottle brush was the nipple brush because it was all plastic without bristles. These bottles were very easy to clean and put together. They are nice and wide necked so that makes it easy to thoroughly clean but also effectively pour milk into without wasting a drop. Our baby took to these bottles very easily. We had tried others that she fought but we had no problem with the bottles in this set. When she is breastfeed, she takes in a lot of air and has to be burped a lot. We didn't seem to have that problem with these bottles which made out baby much happier while feeding. She also didn't have any issues with nipple confusion when she went back to breast feeding in the evenings. We used a bottle that looked very similar to this for our older child which we really liked and were planning to use for this new baby. After receiving this set, we have changed our plans because the Avent bottles have less pieces and a better price.
