Philips AVENT SCF635/27 Classic Variable Flow Nipple lets babies control the flow of milk like with breastfeeding, which can reduce spit-up and overeating. Philips AVENT's anti-colic valve flexes to keep air in the bottle and out of your baby's tummy, a feature that reduces fussing and colic. In a clinical trial, two-week-old infants fed with a Philips AVENT Classic bottle experienced less colic than babies fed with a conventional bottle, with the greatest difference seen at night. Designed for babies at least 3 months old, the slot hole design allows you to change the flow of milk, provides an extra fast flow and accommodates thicker liquids. Simply turn the bottle to line up the I, II or III marking with your baby's nose to choose between slow, medium and fast flow. The nipple is made of flavorless, odorless silicone that resists discoloring and stickiness. The nipple's soft, rounded shape promotes feeding for babies who nurse from both the breast and a bottle. The Classic BPA Free nipples are dishwasher safe and can be sterilized by boiling for five minutes or by using a Philips AVENT steam sterilizer.
BPA-Free Advanced anti-colic system: Innovative twin valve design reduces colic and discomfort by venting air into the bottle and not baby's tummy With the variable flow nipple, you can adjust the flow rate according to liquid's thickness and suit baby's feeding rythm perfectly Dishwasher safe Compatible with Classic feeding bottle

Gamechanger!
The Philips Avent variable flow nipples are a game changer! No need to buy new tops as your baby grows. My little guy is 10.5 months and is so picky. If he's hungry, he wants a fast flow, but at bedtime he would rather have a slow flow. These gave me the option of just adjusting to the flow as needed, and not having to have separate bottles. I'll definitely be buying more of these in the future! Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this product to try out!

Great in the long run
Thanks to the weespring parent panel, I had the opportunity to test this product. Using this product takes a little getting used to, but the fact there is a variety of flows on the nipple is great! It cuts down on nipple storage and allows you to test different sizes without having to go through the hassle of multiple different nipples. My baby is 20 weeks old and ended up liking the slow flow for most of the feeding but would tolerate the medium flow before wanting to end with the slow flow again. There were a few times she choked herself getting used to the flow, but that may have been something I was doing wrong. I love that I can try multiple flows so easily because I am not positive which flow I would have picked if I had to exclusively pick a size. My daughter did have some trouble getting used to the bottle itself, but she just isn’t totally a fan of bottles in general. Overall I did not notice whether or not these helped with gas or colic, she did still take in some air, but she does when breastfeeding as well, so there was not a huge difference in her overall behavior.
My baby was exclusively breastfed before trying the philips advent anti colic baby bottle variable flow 4 pack, so I will continue to use this product to see how my baby likes it as she grows! Overall I really liked that I had the option to try different flows because sometimes my baby likes to take it slow and sometimes she likes to eat a bit quicker, so I love that I have the option to change it up. I’ll definitely play around with this a lot more in the future and figure out what works best for my baby.

No more air in our bottles!!!
I have always planned to be a nursing mama who also incorporates bottles from time to time to give myself a break and also allow my husband to bond with our daughter. However my daughter has refused every single bottle. Or the few times I’d get her to take one she’d get a gassy upset stomach from the air getting in the nipple. Thanks to weespring parent panel for sending me the Philips Advent Anti-colic bottle variable flow to test I have finally found a bottle my daughter not only loves but also does not upset her stomach. This bottle is amazing to say the least. You can physically watch it push the air out of the nipple, so there is no more worries. I am so beyond pleased with this product I’d recommend to any mama out there! And double bonus she uses this bottle just fine and still nurses perfectly fine with zero nipple confusion! This bottle doesn’t leak too much, it does do a slow drip but honestly I don’t even mind because this bottle has been so amazing for me. Also my 9 month old drops and bites it so it could just be that she is rough on things. Thank you so much weespring parent panel review for sending us this amazing bottle and changing my family’s lives! My husband and I were finally able to go on a date for the first time in 7 months because we finally are able to have someone feed and watch our baby now that she will finally take a bottle!

I was really excited to receive these nipples to review as a part of the WeeSpring Parent Panel. i have an 11 month old who has been breastfed and we are in the process of trying to wean her. I loved that these came in a set so you could try different flow rates without buying huge packages of each and then feeling wasteful if they did not work. I also liked the shape of them as they looked more nipple-like than most that we had already. One downside was that they only fit on the Philips Advent bottles when most of mine are glass and of a different size but I was willing to try anything if it worked. My daughter was not too interested in them but did take a couple sips at times which is more than she has ever done before. She never drank enough for me to know if it would help with her gassiness but it seems like a very smart design and I could see the air exchange as I played with it. I will definitely keep these on hand as we continue through the weaning process.

Great idea
I've used the natural flow Avent bottles when my little one was born. So I was excited to have her try the anti-colic bottles with the variable flow nipples. I received the Avent bottles and nipples through the weespring parent panel in exchange for my opninon. At the time my little one uses them she was 4 months and starting to eat a lot more. I'm an exclusive pumper so I only used breast milk in the anti-colic bottles. She is not breast feed so we used the bottles and variable flow nipples at every feeding. Coming off of newborn nipples I started her off on the level 1 flow and she adjusted quick, gradually moving up to level 3 on the variable nipple by the end of the week. I loved how the speed could be changed without having to remove and replace the nipple to control the flow.

Smart design, just not for my breastfed baby
My baby is seven months old now and breastfeeds in the morning/at night, but takes a bottle of breast milk 3-4 times while I’m at work. We are big fans of Avent bottles (so easy to clean!) and nipples. We used the anti-colic bottles (with standard nipples) for a while but more recently have been using the slow flow natural nipples. They require her to suck more, like she is on the breast.
These anti-colic variable speed nipples are ingenious. It seems like they could really grow with your little one. It’s so handy that they work with the anti-colic bottles (you can’t use the insert, but the ring and bottle fit). Unfortunately though, the nipple flow rate was just too high. No problem latching or taking to the nipple, but even on the slowest speed, baby was sputtering and choking some. The slowest feeding rate seemed faster than the slow flow Avent Natural nipples.
I think if she were more accustomed to taking her feedings with faster nipples, this wouldn’t be an issue... but if you pace feed using a slow nipple, the variable speed functionality may be lost on you and your babe.
Many thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this product to test and review.

Great idea!
I received these nipples from the weeSpring Parent Panel and was pretty excited to try them out! My baby has previously been using just basic nipples sent home from the hospital. I feed him bottles just here and there with expressed milk and he took the Avent variable flow nipple okay. He's 3.5 months and the slow flow seemed good, when I tried medium it was too fast, so definitely a bottle nipple to grow with. Overall, he's just not very particular on what nipple type it is, as long as it's breast milk. He did seem to gulp a bit more air with these than other nipples. These nipples can't be used with the air free vent inserted in bottle. If you want to switch flow rate in mid feeding, always pull out nipple from mouth, turn bottle, then put back in. Otherwise their lips get turned and they aren't latched naturally. I'll probably give these another try when he's strictly bottle feeding, as I like the idea of being able to bump up flow rates without having to make a trip to the store.

Great nipple- love the variable flow
I really have liked this variable flow nipple. It is easy to use. What makes it great is that you are able to adjust the flow rate for your baby in the middle of a feed without having to stop the feeding and exchange it for a different nipple or being stuck with the same flow rate for the entire feeding. This is very convenient, especially when you want to adjust the flow as your baby goes from hungry (faster flow) to more content and perhaps suckling for comfort or sleepiness (slow flow). This adjustment can be made simply by turning the bottle. The flow rate is marked on the edge of the nipple, so you simply have to turn the bottle so that the mark for the flow rate you want is at the top. This nipple works for paced bottle feeding which I prefer. The anti-colic valve is not compatible with this variable flow nipple, but the anti-colic valve also doesn't work for paced bottle feeding, so I don't mind that. Simply remove the anti-colic valve and still use the bottle. With this variable flow nipple, your baby can still hold the bottle by him/herself if they are doing so, but will not understand the changes in flow rate based on the position of the nipple. The flow rate will change based on how the baby is holding the bottle if they are holding it themselves. This nipple has one hole/slit that the milk comes out of, not multiple. The variable flow feature is very nice as it allows you to control the flow of milk throughout the course of the feeding and will also last longer as your baby gets older so you won't have to buy as many new nipples as they progress and get older. The base of the nipple is wider/larger than some other bottles, which is more conducive to switching between bottle and breast, so I like that. Very clever design and I really like this product. I was given this nipple to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel in exchange for my honest review.

We’ve been trying to get our 7 month old breastfed baby to take a bottle for a while. I was hopeful that the Philips Avent Anti-Colic Baby Bottle Variable Flow nipples would help since they have different flow options and we’d find one that worked well for her. I really liked that the nipple stayed filled up with milk even when it was being held horizontally. That seems like it would help prevent gas issues from unwanted air being sucked it and would keep the flow of milk moving. My daughter wasn’t quite as impressed though! Milk really stays in nipple
We’re trying to introduce our EBF son to bottles, so were really happy to receive this bottle through the weeSpring Parent Panel. He’s a happy spitter, so the way the nipple stays full of milk is really great for us, as he gets less air and everyone stays drier. To be completely honest, we didn’t really notice a difference between the flows. But that might be user error. For a breastfed baby, they were all a little fast, but I can imagine for a formula baby and babies drinking cereals, this is a useful feature. Our baby is not in love with the bottle (or any bottle), and did better with the Philips Avent Natural bottles, but we plan to keep trying since we like the anti-gas/colic system in this bottle better. Definitely no issues with nipple confusion going between bottle and breast.

Nipple not appropriate for breast fed babies
I did not attempt to utilize the AirFree vent because my son does not have colic. I do appreciate how the vent is all one piece for easy cleaning. I was thrilled that this particular bottle gave you the freedom of choice. I used the size 2 nipple that came in the package because my son is breastfed and feared the size 3 nipple would be too fast for him. I appreciated having 2 options with sizing to make the best choice for my son. The wide bottle also makes cleaning easier. The shape of the nipple is advertised as allowing for a secure latch but my son was unable to stay latched. This nipple shape is not ideal for breastfed babies. The packaging claimed that the nipple stays full even when horizontal to prevent air. I tested this with and without the vent and did not find it to be true. Overall, I loved the simplicity of assembling and minimal parts required as well as the ease of cleaning. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this nipple.

My baby is 9 months old and so far has been breastfed only, so I was excited to try this bottle as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel because we haven't found one yet that he's crazy about. He's also got some reflux, so I was stoked on the anti-colic attachment. He was about as interested in this bottle as he is in the few others we've tried, and that's more on him than on the bottle, which is well designed. At first I thought the size of the bottle would be a little too big for him, but he was able to hold on to it pretty easily. He seemed to like the flow of the nipple, but I will say it was a little bit of a struggle to make sure he was always drinking out of it properly, with the anti-colic attachment facing up, because he likes to hold on to the bottle himself. That wouldn't be a problem for babies who need the bottle held for them. All in all, I'd say this is a solid bottle.

Great concept, confusing to understand at first
I given these Avent Variable Flow nipples from the weeSpring Parent Panel. I have a 5 month old baby that both bottle feeds (formula and breast-milk) and breastfeeds. This nipple is dishwasher safe, can be boiled to sanitize, and you can also use the Philips Avent sterilizer. It is only to be used with the Philips Avent Anti-colic bottle, and is not compatible with the AirFree vent. The variable flow anti-colic nipples have 3 different flow options built into one nipple. The flows are labelled on the nipple as I, II, and III. The idea of the nipple is great, but it was confusing to use. After reading all of the information that came with the product, I still had to do some searching online on how exactly it is supposed to work and be used. Turning the bottle allows you to switch between flows without having to change nipples. That is a great concept, but again I was first confused on how to use it. I did use this nipple with both formula and breast milk. My child seemed to have a hard time using this nipple. The I flow was too slow and she had a hard time wanting to even keep the nipple in her mouth, and the II and III seemed to both be very quick flows. Even though the flow was fast, there was not the usual spit up that follows from her eating too fast. I didn't notice any signs of her usual reflux, which is a great pro of this particular nipple.

Easy to use!
Once my baby was ready to take a bottle, I tried the Philips Avent Anti-Colic bottle since she often has uncomfortable gas. I really liked the feel of the bottle and the option to use variable flow nipples- this is a great feature as it will enable us to adjust the nipple flow as she gets older and is a stronger eater. She took to the nipple without much fuss and seemed satisfied with the flow of milk! The bottle is sturdy, easy to put together and easy to clean - all things that are important to me as a busy mom! I have noticed a slight reduction in her spit ups and tummy bubbles after bottle feeding, so I'm satisfied with the Philips Avent bottle! Thank you to the weeSpring Parent Panel for the opportunity to try this bottle.

Bottle is great!
This Philips Avent bottle is great! My 12 month old son loves it, using the slow flow nipple, and he doesn’t get gas from this bottle! He’s always had gassy problems, but not with this bottle! Plus, it’s got a natural-like nipple, so it’s good for breastfeeding or formula-feeding moms alike.I definitely recommend this to moms! Try this before looking to other bottles. It’s a very high quality bottle. I received this product as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel, and I’m glad I got to try it out!

Great idea, but ultimately disappointing
I received this product as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. The Avent anti-colic bottle has a plastic part that sits along the rim of the bottle to prevent gas, along with a variable-flow adjustable nipple. I was extremely excited about this product because I thought it was genius to have one bottle nipple that can adjust the flow, instead of having to buy multiple nipple sizes. My 7 month old has been using size 2 nipples and a size 3 occasionally, so we mostly experimented with both of those flows on this Avent Variable Flow bottle nipple. Despite my excitement for the ingenuity of the product, my baby didn't really like it. He did not like how hard the nipple was, in fact he refused it more often than he took to it. It does seem to be a very stiff bottle nipple (and not just due to being new). I also couldn't really tell a difference between the different flow settings. The anti-colic bottle feature has to remain at the top of the bottle for it to work, which took some getting used to, and is difficult to keep it in one position with a baby who wants to hold his own bottle. I also sadly didn't notice a difference in gassiness/fussiness with using the new anti-colic bottle. I had to give this product 3-stars because I think it's a great idea, but not quite working as well as I had hoped. I also didn't think it had very good instructions.. I had to google how to change the nipple flow rate (the numbers on the nipple must be aligned with baby's nose).

I wanted to love this nipple, I really did. My baby is a big fan of Avent Natural nipples, so I thought this would be a breeze and could help us transition from flow level one to two. My baby did not love it though. She rejected it outright every time I tried. There seems to be something about the taste or texture of this plastic that is displeasing. I received this in exchange for an honest review from the WeeSpring Parent Panel.

Great nipple especially for thicker liquids
I was given this Nipple to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. They were great for helping my daughter (6 months) transition from a slow flow to fast flow nipple. My daughter never had a problem choking down too much liquid but she would dribble out whatever she couldn't swallow fast enough which can get messy. I would just adjust the flow by turning the bottle for times when this happened. The best thing about these nipples is that they accommodate thicker liquids, i.e. rice cereal. I haven't found any other nipple that has allowed the thicker liquid to flow without having to cut them. Overall I would recommend them especially when you add cereal to your baby's bottle.

Fast flow but no gas
When weeSpring Parent Panel sent me the Philips Avent anti colic bottle and variable flow nipples to test I was excited for the opportunity to see how my baby would take a bottle. He is 4 months old and had never had a bottle before so I pumped some milk and gave it a try. He took the nipple without issue after chewing on it long enough to find out there was milk in there. It was easy for him to latch and suck on and seemed to fit his mouth well. He appeared to like it, though he coughed a few times at first because even on the slowest setting the flow was fast. Although he sucked the milk down faster than I would have liked he didn’t spit up or have and gas later. The design would be good for colicky babies because it helped him swallow less air than he usually does. These nipples would be great for babies on thickened formula because there is a slit, rather than a hole, and the milk flows through easily. They would probably work best for babies six months and older just because the flow rate is so fast but the stage 1 and stage 2 nipples will fit on the same bottle so these are just the next step. Actually they are more like the next three steps. It’s nice being able to buy just one bottle and only change the nipples as little man grows. I only rated them four stars because of the rate of flow but I liked everything else about them. A good choice for gassy babies and parents who don’t want multiple bottle styles and sizes hanging around.

No more nipple stockpiles!
While already a Phillips Avent customer, I love these variable flow nipples! I received the 2pk (2) variable flow nipples and a Phillips Avent Naturals bottle from weeSpring parent panel in exchange for an honest review. First thing I noticed was that they have the same great “breast” like wide shape baby was already using, so transitioning was very easy. Secondly, they are BPA free and dishwasher safe, so knowing my son was getting the safest thing and I was still getting the convenience I need in my busy life. I really liked that the nipple and bottle didn’t come out of the dishwasher with that filmy look.
As for product usage, we couldn’t be happier. My child has had trouble with flow before, either he was hungry and had to work too hard causing frustration or he was more relaxed and we would have a mess (Mom’s frustration). With this we can give a twist of the bottle and he gets his perfect flow. It also works well with cereal thickened milk without clogging. I previously had 3 different flow nipples en mass taking up my little kitchen space so I am so excited to purge them all and stick with this variable flow nipple! I plan on recommending them to all my friends!
