Our boys are now 4 and 2 3/4 and are your typical boys. They beat on everything and this little ride-on can take it. The use it daily and for hours at a time, though they do spend lots of time filling up and dumping the loads from the bed. They also use it for hauling everything, sand, leaves, toys, they even help haul fire wood. Traction isn't great, as it does tend to spin the wheels on grassy hills or snowy/icy conditions, but with a little weight in the bed it gets around. I can't recommend it enough. I'm actually writing this review as I research a second ride on (the boys constantly fight over who gets to drive) and I must admit, I'm very strongly considering a second John Deere Gator, but may settle for something else from Peg Perego. I can't comment on assembly, since its been so long, but I don't recall any issues or it being too hard. Bottom line, it's been time tested and is still running great and the boy still fight over it.
