First of all, let me just start by explaining our little start at life. We spent 14 days in the NICU. He wasn’t able to breath on his own in the beginning! And was hooked up to monitors, that would go off constantly!! As the days past! He got stronger and needed less wires, and less oxygen! But, him getting better, was not making myself or my husband feel any safer about bringing him home. Hearing those alarms for so long, man,it really brainwashed us! We were constantly having nurses run to us. And constantly having his wires reset to see if his reading were correct. As the days went by, we were stressing more and more about taking our little man home! We were suppose to be excited! But couldn’t got that point, when all we had inside was worry! A nurse at the hospital mentioned the OWLET monitor, and explained how the monitor was so similar to having that little pulse ox wrapped around his foot/arm at the hospital! And how it would Alarm us if he dropped below a certain oxygen reading. We had heard about the OWLET, but never even gave it a second thought when we were in this situation! Unfortunately we weren’t able to just flat out by it, because it is slightly pricy! But we were able to collect donations from family and friends and get it!! And my gosh ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY!! We can home and immediately were more comfortable sleeping while he slept! It telling you when he is moving, and when it’s not getting a good read(it moved, or he kicked it off)! We are 100% impressed and would recommend to ANYONE AND EVERYONE!!! As a mom with anxiety! This saved me!! It saved our Sanity!
Date published: 2020-07-04

Rated 1 out of 5 by Keirstinw from Absolutely terrible I have been trying to use this sock on my son for the past month and all I get is a notification saying sick placement is wrong I’ve adjusted it several times watched video after video and simply can not get the garbage to work. Our little girl came nearly three months early, we spent 9 weeks in the NICU on all sorts of monitors but we were sent home with nothing, she was fine, doing well and "just fine." Out of an abundance of caution we put the sock on her every night. A week after coming home she contracted a respiratory virus but, we had no idea. She wasn't showing any other symptoms, no fever, no cough, no congestion. That night the alarm went off, I ran into the room where our little girl was turning blue. I did all the things we were trained to do from our time in the NICU and was able to get her back after stimulation. She landed herself in the hospital for three days following the incident and was sent home with an additional pulse-ox. However, I continued to use the smart sock since the app allows me to see her stats over time, I can track her breathing and sleep day to day, hour to hour and at any point at night I can check my phone to see how she's doing without disturbing her. I can't thank Owlet Baby Care enough for creating the technology that allowed me the opportunity to be there for my baby when she needed me most. I would recommend the smart sock to anyone and everyone. It's worth it. It's more than worth it. In the grand plan of it all - it's a small price for so much information and I hope that it's never more than peace of mind but if ever that alarm goes off and wakes you from your sleep it's everything.
Date published: 2020-07-01

Rated 5 out of 5 by R. A from Saved the life of my sister's baby My nephew was born with a muscle disorder called XLMTM. It is a fatal disorder that leads to muscle weakness, so he is unable to breathe normally, swallow, and is very floppy. He was not doing well in the NICU on a ventilator and was too weak for a tracheostomy so we took him home to be with family and love him during his last days or week (doctors gave us 2 days-10 days after ventilator removal because of the CO2 retention). We prayed so hard that he could just live, and as a medical student reading about his disorder I knew the odds were against us. But we had hope. And within the first two weeks he started to absolutely thrive!!! He was on low-flow supplemental oxygen (2L), and had a nasal feeding tube but tolerated both very well. He was energetic moving his little arms and legs, smiling, watching his baby sensory videos...we were in shock. His breathing rate was still high, so we were concerned that he wasn't getting rid of the CO2 but just kept being hopeful. Hospice DID NOT give us a heart monitor or O2 sat monitor; they said it would be best if we focus on his comfort rather than monitors. But my sister wanted to buy the Owlet Sock even though it is not meant for his specific medical condition. Best decision of her life. On June 12/14 2020, the alarm on the sock alerted us that the baby's oxygen was too low; in fact dipped all the way down to the 40s!!!!! We went to check on him and he was not breathing and not responsive. He tried CPR, we tried to elicit a response...but we thought...is this his end? But even though he was not responding to us and his lips turned blue we jacked up his O2 machine to 5L. He immediately went back to a normal O2 and HR. S Something wasn't making sense...he was gasping for air, and this isn't something the doctors told my sister would happen if he was passing. So she called 911. When they came they didn't want to take him to the ER, he was a hospice case. But she fought for him to be taken. Long story short, it turns out that he has LOW MAGNESIUM, LOW POTASSIUM and wasn't dying...but because magnesium deficiency can lead to muscle weakness and cramps, fatigue, lethargy....in a baby with his condition it made it much worse and he could have died from it. So our little miracle got the help he needed at the hospital, they corrected his deficiencies and he came back home. His doctors evaluated him at the hospital again, and my sister showed them videos of him at home. They were shocked. They said this active happy baby doesn't look like he will die soon, and his prognosis was changed to a year, potentially longer to live. ***Without the Owlet sock we would have found him dead in his crib, and we would have thought it was because of his disease*** Instead he came home from the hospital with a new lease on life, and we will continue to wait for clinical trials and new potential drugs that may arrive to help him survive even longer. Yes it is not a medical device substitute, yes it is not meant to be used on unhealthy babies...but we are thankful we bought it. This product saved his life.
Date published: 2020-06-30

Owlet Smart Sock 2 - Baby Monitor Reviews - page 2

y_2022, m_7, d_6, h_21

bvseo_bulk, prod_bvrr, vn_bulk_3.0.32

cp_1, bvpage1

co_hasreviews, tv_7, tr_1359

loc_en_CA, sid_62DB541C, prod, sort_[SortEntry(order=SUBMISSION_TIME, direction=DESCENDING)]

clientName_toysrus-ca

bvseo_sdk, dw_cartridge, 18.2.0, p_sdk_3.2.0

CLOUD, getReviews, 7ms

reviews, product
