It takes 4 AA batteries and when it says motorized it means (in my sons words regarding shooting) &ldquo;semiautomatic&rdquo; the reload and release clip is easier than some of the older models. The little orange clip is easily accessible while playing. My only warning is to not use knockoff darts; they don&rsquo;t shoot as well. My kids have 100s of different darts and when we have battle nights it&rsquo;s just a free for all, all different colors and brands of darts but you&rsquo;ll want the stiffer ones or in this package the elite darts. They shoot much more accurately and further than say a pack of darts from the dollar store. The darts don&rsquo;t hurt when you&rsquo;re hit, but they give a little sting. At point blank, it&rsquo;ll leave a mark. This is a fun gun for kids fans of fortnite.
