My son stayed focused on this for hours, which isn't the norm. He started building it the week prior to school, still hasn't finished it because he wants to do it mostly by himself. The way the kit is organized into bags allows you to work through it without being overwhelmed by a pile of pieces. He was able to do most of it by himself but he ran into a couple problems when pieces didn't fit. It took me awhile to figure out some of the pieces, too. I think if the pieces fit together better it wouldn't have been so frustrating. We also had a bunch of random bricks afterwards. My son only did the tank and wasn't eager to try the other configuration because it was so hard to put the tank together. Some of the parts detach easily, too. My son could not wait to open it, assemble and play with everything! The figures are very realistic and heavy duty. The figures are poseable and have guns that shoot out missiles. The rolling treads on the tank are very cool along with the tank gun that you crank to shoot. My son loves that feature! He really enjoyed playing with just the figures at first before the tank was assembled making his shooting blow up vocal sounds. He was so excited when it was completed and enjoyed playing with the whole set along with his sister. It did take awhile to put together (definitely 8+), but the instructions were pretty straightforward. Now my son wants to build the aircraft! Awesome interactive toy! The Mega Halo UNSC Scorpion Clash is almost 1000 pieces! that's enough building fun to keep even the most expert lego block builder busy for hours! And then of course there will be the fun of playing with it once it is constructed :) we're not to that point yet, my son is still working on building it, but he has been having a blast putting it together all by himself. I took a pic of it next to our year round Christmas Gnome to illustrate that it would be a wonderful Christmas present or any holiday really. They love to build and like army type toys. This Halo set is big; it has a lot of pieces and building steps. They spent quite a while building it. It was a little complicated. They really had to pay attention to the instructions and make sure they pressed the pieces in place. There were times that they got frustrated if they didn't read the instruction carefully and missed a step. But for the most part, they loved the building set. I do not allow him to play halo games but he has heard about it from his friends at school. This was a huge win to have because he got to make his own missions and senators without any gore. The tank is the main event and very sturdy but the figurines are very detailed and really good looking. My son finds them to be so cool. My kid actually got bored with building this in the very beginning and I can not blame him. This just wasn't the sort of thing that he likes. I found that out after this first block build that he ever did. Sorry that he didn't like it. I had to finish it for him and I actually had a great time finishing it and it was very therapeutic. At the end of the build, I was very happy with the outcome and was so surprised how detailed and complex that this build was. Very cool characteristics and movement of the tank. Really love this. My son was so excited when he saw the box, this was his first ever HALO MEGA set and boy it didn't disappoint! The instructions included were very well drawn out and clear. He's 9 years old and it took him a couple hours to put it together with minimal help from me (which I appreciated). The recommended age of 8 seems appropriate here but people of any age will thoroughly enjoy this set. He absolutely loved the fact that it was a 2 In 1 set and immediately wanted to build the second vehicle. This really adds to the value and play ability of the set. He doesn't know much about HALO but he loves space and futuristic looking things, so he was immediately immersed with the set once completed. He also loved the packaging and wanted to put the box in his room (Another Added Bonus!). Now, of course, he want's other HALO sets to add to the fun! No parent should hesitate to get this set for their children. Between the education aspect of following the instructions / putting the set together and then using his imagination to set up battle scenes and such, I couldn't be happier as a parent. He also has the Warthog and most of the pieces are easily assembled and snap into place. The only trouble he has had are with the rubber bands, like on the Warthog. The bands require an adult to assist as they are small and involve placing the loops on the corresponding pegs. The tank itself is really cool and the detail is precise compared to Halo video game. The added bonus of including a few Covenant figures was a nice touch. The treads move along with the wheels which was a nice touch. The tracks roll nicely, and each group of tracks can move to go over bumpy surfaces. This brand of building blocks does feel differently than the most well known competitor. This brand feels more &ldquo;plastic&rdquo;. I don&rsquo;t really know how to describe it, exactly. They are a bit more &ldquo;temperamental&rdquo; when snapping together and my hands got sore from building this. My son started to build it on his own, he does very well with the other brand building block, but he only got through about step 50 of 243 steps before quitting. His hands just got too sore. However, I think it&rsquo;s totally achievable for the child in the age range to do it completely in their own&hellip; maybe just take breaks. I chose to finish it, because we were excited to play with it. The instructions I will say, I prefer their instructions to those of the main competitors. I like how the spots of where to place the bricks are colored to show exact location. I also like how they show examples if there are pieces that are similar, so you are sure to use the right piece. This set is amazing. We are having so much fun with it. The action figures, I love how they are articulated, so much more fun to play with. As soon as I read the number pieces he was overwhelmed and seeing the time it would be before he could would play with it or I make it or he just plays with a ready now and the. Pieces get separated and lost then the thing won't look like the box anf gets put in pieces in a box of all the other small random pieces they have.
