He enjoys Pokemon a great deal, and was quite excited to get Luxio. The instruction manual was easy to understand, although he doesn't do many of the competitor's sets, so he needed some basic instruction on how to follow the picture based booklet. I got it out several times and he tried to construct it, and the directions were okay, albeit a little confusing, but the stability/quality just isn't as high as other comparable building sets. Others kept his attention and this one just didn't. It also isn't stable enough to actually engage/utilize in play, so when it easily fell apart, it was discouraging and disappointing. Perhaps a child who is 8 or 9 might be more nimble and agile to construct, but this one was an unfortunate miss at our house. My 8 year-old assembled this one mainly be herself, but several of the pieces are so similar and complicated to connect that I had to help her several times. Her overall review was &quot;too hard.&quot; There were five plastic bags containing all the pieces, but we had to open most of them just to get all the pieces for step 1. One plastic bag in a smaller box would have been better packaging. In addition, one piece for step 1 was missing, although it didn't seem to matter.
