When we had requested this toy for free from Mattel we thought it was just a small Hot Wheels toy but to our surprise, it was much bigger. The packaging was appealing and easy to open. There are two bags of lego style blocks inside that all go to the car itself. There is a small figure of a race car driver as well that is already pre-assembled. The instructions for putting it together were a little tough for my 7 year old, but with a little help he was able to put it together within about 30 minutes. We made a few mistakes and had to take it apart a couple times but quickly realized what was wrong and fixed it. It&rsquo;s a very cute race car. The colors are great and it actually moves across the floor if being pushed. Great toy for my son who loves to take things apart and put them back together. First, when the item came out of the box, it had a lot of different bags. We were surprised that there wasn't a clear purpose for each bag (no numbers or order), so we opened all the bags and made a large pile of pieces. My five year old son struggled with putting some of the pieces in place, and he got a little frustrated completing it independently. Since this toy is rated for 5+, we tried to let him build it on his own. The smaller pieces of the build were a little frustrating, as they took more pressure to get the pieces into a true lock with other pieces. He did enjoy playing with it once it was built, which is a plus in consideration with someone other brick building sets he has received. It also lends itself well to the crash and rebuild concept since the pieces come apart. The picture colors also are a little different than in the photo, with the green being significantly deeper in hue (but with a shimmer to it), and the bottom being black. The color contrast between the pieces was not as clear as I would have thought from the box, which translated to a little difficulty in differentiating parts in the printed color directions. Overall, a fun, but challenging build for a five year old. The instruction booklet is excellent. The man was already built which I&rsquo;d wish it wasn&rsquo;t since there are instructions to build it. The final result is awesome! My son and husband love the car! I&rsquo;d say a 5 year old can assemble this with the help of an adult. It seems like a toy for a 7+. Overall I&rsquo;d definitely recommend it. The pieces look and function very similarly to Lego and he loved building this car. The directions were easy for him to follow and build the car. The figurine included is of good quality, as well. He loves that he can drive it fast. I wish there was a seat for the driver and so did my son. I do think the age range for this product also needs to go up because I don&rsquo;t think there&rsquo;s anyway my son could have built that by himself. Some parts were honestly even hard for me to get on. I had to switch some blocks to fit because it was like there were a few that were slightly larger on the connecting circles. I think the instructions are pretty good but could use a little more detail. He does a lot of free form building with duplos, rather than the smaller Lego blocks. I was impressed with how he was able to pick up the instructions and go. It took him a few hours to assemble and he did need some help along the way as some of the pieces were a bit challenging (even for me) to join together. The directions were pretty easy to follow and I liked the fact that the appropriate piece was highlighted a different color in the directions. I wish the bags of pieces were labeled by number or letter for each section of the directions. We had to open every bag and find the appropriate pieces from one big pile. The bags were tough to open and some pieces were really small and a little hard to attach even for an adult. All told, this is a great product. My son was able to build this on his own with some adult oversight and took him about 45-60 minutes to complete. He loved the finished product which he was able to play with.
