I had used a medela pump a few times in the hospital after my daughter was born and I didn't like it that much so I wasn't expecting to like this pump as much as I did. I was given this breast pump to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and I have been using this pump exclusively since. My son just turned 6 months old and I typically pump 3 times a day while at work and once a day in the morning on the weekends plus any time I am away from him and my husband gives a bottle. I love how portable this pump is! It can be held in one hand and easily put in a purse on the go or in a hoodie pocket while pumping around the house. The pump is also very quiet when in your hand or a pocket. It does get a bit louder when it is set on a desk (pumping while working) but it is still quieter than a normal plug in the wall pump. One of the things that I like the most about this pump is actually the usb c charger. I love that I will always be able to find a charger on the go since I have a usb c phone charger in my car, on my desk at work and next to my bed at home. This is very convenient! I was able to produce at least as much milk with this pump, likely more, though it is hard to know for sure with day to day fluctuations in supply. I was honestly expecting to get a bit less milk out when compared to my stronger hospital grade pump but I was pleasantly surprised. I would typically get the same amount of milk out in less time which is a definite plus. The flanges are flexible and are very comfortable. The flexible flanges also mean there is no leakage with movements. They stay in place comfortably for multitasking while pumping. The pump suction is also quite comfortable. I never felt like it was pulling too much at my nipple and I never found it uncomfortable. Using the pump was quite simple. There are four buttons. An on/off button, a button that turns the let down mode on and off and plus and minus buttons to increase and decrease the suction strength. One feature that I really liked is that the let down mode goes for a minute when the pump is turned on and then expression mode automatically turns on. If I am multitasking while pumping, I often forget to turn expression mode on so this is actually a really useful feature for me. The pump doesn't tell you how long you have been pumping for so you have to install the medela family app on your phone and it will tell you how long you have been pumping for and it will let you start and stop pumping in the app. The app was my least favorite part of the pump. It would sometimes take a long time for the bluetooth to sync with the pump, though this could have been an issue with my phone. I don't need the app to pump so the app so this wasn't a big issue for me. The connector/flange/membrane is different than any other pump I have used. The connector has less parts to clean and there is only one flexible membrane. It is simple to clean and sanitize with less parts. The only real negative that I found with the pump is that I couldn't find anywhere to buy the flexible membrane by itself. The entire connector and membrane is sold together. I donate my extra milk to a local milk bank that supplies milk to the NICU so I steam sanitize my pump parts after every use. Steam sanitizing the flexible parts typically wears them out faster so I am used to buying more pump parts than most people. Having to buy the whole connector is a little more expensive than just buying spare membranes. Hopefully Medela will sell these by themselves in the future because I really love this pump and I intend to continue using it regularly. Overall I love this pump. I absolutely love this pump. I'm currently exclusively pumping for my three month old using this and a hospital grade pump. Because this pump is portable, I find myself using it in the car, at work, while doing laundry, and even while chasing my toddler around the backyard. It is definitely not discreet - you can tell that I'm pumping while wearing it. However, the stylish Medela backpack and bandeau bra make the pump hands free. I feel I'm producing the same amount with this pump as with a hospital grade pump, and I only need to charge it about once every 3-4 days (when using it twice per day). Cleaning is easy since the valve and the seal are one part. One thing I love is that the pump has a spot in the tubing where you can plug one side in to be able to pump on the other side only. This is invaluable when one side produces more quickly than the other side. I also love that it automatically switches from stimulation mode to expression mode. Another great aspect is that it comes with two different flange sizes, which is super important when pumping often. My one complaint is that you don't get a notification about low battery until you have about five minutes of battery left. This is hard when you're on a time crunch, like at work, and need to pump on the spot. If you're looking for a pump that gets you away from the wall and is small enough to carry around without it being a burden, I highly recommend this pump. The technology certainly has advanced since our first born. The Medela Swing Maxi is so small, and yet so mighty. It's surprising just how light, and portable it is. It literally fits in the palm of your hand. We are an on-the-go family, traveling often, and we are dual working household. Our littlest one is 11 months now and I was skeptical if this pump had the power to express milk like my super efficient baby. We were definitely pleased to see the Medela Swing Maxi compete with our other tried and true pumps. Here are the pros: it's super compact and everything fits easily in the small, neutral colored backpack provided. The backpack has an insulated section built in to store milk until you can refrigerate the milk. The pump has a USB charger, so if you're not near an outlet, you have other options to charge the pump. However, the battery lasted several days without needing a recharge. You can also choose to pump one or both breasts at the same time. Oh, and for anyone who has ever spilled precious breast milk before, you will appreciate this simple, yet smart &quot;milk-saving&quot; addition Medela has come up with. There are two yellow stands that give the bottles a wider base of support, significantly reducing the chances of the bottle tipping over. Yay Medela! The pump albeit small and portable, was quite loud while pumping. So while the machine itself was rather discrete, the motor was quite loud. The pump is also easy to clean after use and store, without a bunch of small parts to get lost in the process. Did I mention the parts are disherwasher safe? Best part! There is also a great app, the Medela Family app, that you can use to sink to your pump and keep track of pump sessions, output, feeding sessions, etc and all that information can be shared with family members. It is a great pump! I was really impressed with the vacuum suction levels and the small size of the pump itself. Since the pump is so small and lightweight, it was really easy to carry around, and I didn't have to sit next to an outlet for my entire pumping session. I do wish it would have come with a lanyard to have been able to hang it around my neck, as this would have made it the ultimate portable breast pump. The Swing Maxi was very easy to use. Turning on the pump put it immediately into letdown mode, which is great, but the letdown mode only runs for 60 seconds before changing to expression mode, which is too short for my needs. I used the letdown button to change it back for another 60 seconds, until I was ready to use expression mode (it changed back automatically after that additional 60 seconds). Hooking up all of the parts was very easy and I felt very comfortable using this closed system, as no breast milk is able to move past the membranes into the tubing. This also made cleaning the pump parts a breeze, and all of the parts fit together snugly. I am a little concerned that the breast pump manual only lists this pump as being able to withstand 275 pumping hours, because I am an exclusive pumper and already spend at least 2 hours pumping per day. I did not yet explore the Medela Family app, but I'm impressed that it can communicate pumping session lengths with the breast pump. Overall, I loved the portability and size of this pump! It had a great level of vacuum suction, was very easy to hook up and use, and helped me ton empty my breasts easily within my regular pumping sessions. I was so excited when I received this pump. Let start with the pros. First off I loved the size. It is actually portable and even has a loop on it. This tiny pump fit almost anywhere including right next to me as I drove. It made discreet pumping possible. It&rsquo;s actually pretty quiet. Another big plus was the minimal pieces you had to wash. The flanges fit so well and it all came apart and was super easy to clean. Washing was incredibly fast and there were no places that are hard to reach. The suction surprised me as well. It is very powerful especially for its size. I also liked that the tubing points down so you don&rsquo;t have horrible tubes sticking forward in your shirt. Another great feature was being able to connect to my phone and actually track my progress. Now for the cons, the biggest con for me that made me sometimes hesitant to pump is the depth of the flanges. Everything was a bit short and my nipples squished in the back which definitely gets uncomfortable. It seems shallow which is great for discrete pumping. I do feel like I have super stretchy nipples and feel like this may be more of a me problem. Second issue is battery life. It lasted through a whole session but depending on how long the session was sometimes not much more than that. I also had an issue with the power button. Sometimes it would easily get bumped and turn the pump off. What I didn&rsquo;t like more was how it was so easy to turn on. Sometimes just picking it up would press the button enough to turn it on. It was irritating because it would add a pumping session to my phone. I wish it had a off switch. Lastly it would be great if it came with a clip of some sort. It came with that great little loop but no way to connect it. I ended up using a zip tie to attach it to my jeans. I also had bought a cheap no outlet pump but let me tell you that was soo loud and squeezed to rough! The Medela Swing Maxi now took the place of my home and out and about pump! The parts are easy to clean which I love! It also had less parts to take apart then my old pump woo!! I was able to vacuum, do dishes, use this in the car and get stuff done!! I did use the Medela app and that was just ok for me. I liked how you could Bluetooth connect the pump to the app and they had some helpful advice on the app. I didn&rsquo;t really like how they recorded the feeds. The times were messed up and I don&rsquo;t want to manually enter how many ounces I pumped. The one reason I am not giving this pump 5 stars is that I really wish that it had a timer screen on the pump itself and that I didn&rsquo;t have to look at the app to see how long I pumped. There is a slight learning curve with connecting the pumping parts because there were fewer pieces than I was used to, but once I got over that hurdle, I had so much success with this breast pump! I work on a busy nursing unit and trying to find time to pump can be near impossible some days. I also hate being connected to a pump that is also connected to a wall outlet. However, the Swing Maxi is small in comparison and is so easy to carry around when it fits in the palm of your hand! When I'm at work, I put the pump into my scrub jacket pocket to carry to the pumping room and no one suspects a thing. I love having the freedom to pump when I'm crammed for time and have to multitask (sometimes this means eating or charting while I pump). After pumping, the small size means an easy clean up and this breast pump can be easily wiped down. Now when it comes down to the performance of the Swing Maxi pump, it's a terrific experience. This breast pump is so quiet and no one will know you're pumping unless you explicitly tell them. Plus, I'm able to pump more in ten minutes with this pump than 15-20 minutes with any of the other pumps I own. As both a nurse and a mom, every minute counts so I appreciate the shorter pumping time when I have so many other things I could be doing over pumping. The actual pump itself is easy to carry around since it fit in the pocket of my sweater or sometimes in a fanny pack. Cleaning the different pump parts was easy. The bottle was a four piece component. I did feel a little anxious drying them because some parts have little nooks where water can enter and sometimes I had to pump right away and I couldn&rsquo;t wait for it to dry. I was scared that I would accidentally pump water into the tubes. I just had to be more meticulous in drying the slot where the tubes go in. I tried the Medela Family app and I found some portions of the app useful. The part of the app that I used most was logging my pumping times. It was great because it would auto-log the other times even if I didn&rsquo;t open or use the app. One of my favorite feature of the pump was the massage/stimulating mode. My favorite part of the pump was that once it was on there nice and secure, I could go about my chores, move around, pick up my baby, or chase my toddler without feeling like I was going to spill, which is a current concern that I have with my wearable cup style pump that I also use for portability. I could bend over and not worry about spills or leaks. The biggest con is that for a pump that is advertised as something really portable, it still requires a pumping bra and that is not discreet. So while you might be able to be away from the wall, you can't be sitting at your desk at work. You still need to be at some place private. Therefore, it's great at home where you don't really care about being covered up but it&rsquo;s not a truly portable solution for me. I also felt the pump itself was a little bulky but I figured out a way to hook it to my belt loop.
