I won this pump after attending a live Medela training session in a support group that I&rsquo;m a part of and it has been such a blessing! My little one was born 9 weeks early and spent almost two months in the NICU. Having this pump during the 40 minute commute to the hospital made it possible for me to always bring him the freshest milk. Little did I know that I would be an exclusive pumper for his first two months of life, but this pump made it possible and easy! Thank you Medela! P.S. Here is my assessment: Pros: - Portability: It is so much smaller than my other &quot;portable&quot; pump, allowing me more freedom to multitask while pumping - Efficiency: I found this pump to be super efficient for the size. With the 2 phase expression technology, I was able to express the same amount of milk as my other pump in ~75% of the time - Quiet: Compared to other pumps I've tried, I found it to be fairly quiet - Easy to clean: I love that it's a closed system (so the milk doesn't enter the tubing or pump) and that all the parts are dishwasher safe. I found the parts easy to assemble/disassemble for cleaning - Bluetooth connectivity: This pump can connect to the Medela app via Bluetooth, which allows you to keep track of your pumping sessions on your phone. I only pump 1-2 times a day, so this wasn't a big deal for me, but I could see it being really useful for exclusive pumpers - Convenient Accessories: I really appreciated that it came with a (super-cute) backpack so I could bring this pump with me when I travel Cons: - My only complaint (and it is a small one) is that I had to purchase additional flanges because it only comes with 21 and 24mm size flanges and I needed the 27mm size to pump more comfortably and effectively. The only thing I didn't really like about this pump is the short cord. Also be aware that it you sit at a table when you pump, it may pump itself right off jt. Overall, great portable pump. I love this pump for back up like running errands or not having a pump room available at work. It&rsquo;s super easy to use, comes with a super cute bag, has suction comparable to all my other pumps, and the phalanges have a nice shape to them with silicone edges for a better fit. Cons: Why did they have to change all the pieces?! Odd charger, different tubing, and different &ldquo;connectors&rdquo; between the phalange and the bottle. It just makes it harder to make sure you have everything and impossible to borrow from someone when you forget something. The battery initially worked for several pumps but now it seems like it&rsquo;s down to only 2 pumps. I&rsquo;d have to do better at timing them to see how long it&rsquo;s lasting. But if you plug it in while using it, it&rsquo;ll work which is nice. The bag is cute but could be a smidge bigger. I have everything in it as a back up but then also my tubing and extra &ldquo;connectors&rdquo; for my work pump. This pump is not a portable pump in the sense of &ldquo;place in your bra and walk around without tubes and do what you want&rdquo;. It still leaks when you bend over. It still has the bottles that hang out from your boobies (not hidden). Medela does it again! All their pumps are amazing, but the Medela Swing Maxi pump by far is the best pump I have used. It works very well and efficiently while giving me the freedom to move around and not be stuck in a chair while pumping. The Swing maxi is a portable pump that needs to be charged every 3-4 times that you use the pump. It has a quick charge feature so it is never a hassle. It allows me, as a busy mom and a business owner, to kill two birds with one stone. Pump, and make sure that my baby gets the best possible food, and get things done so I can maximize my time. I have used many different pumps from all different companies on each of my four children. I have also used other portable pumps but this one by far exceeds all others with its efficacy and the amount of breast milk that is consistently expressed. The pump comes with just a few pieces so it is easy and simple to assemble, wash, and take on the go. Definitely gives me peace of mind and nobody wants to spend any more time doing dishes than we have to! The pump is mostly quiet, at least more than most breast pumps, however my only complaint is that on several occasions I've noticed a creaking sound coming from where the little pinch clasp is on the connectors. It's super handy that it is wireless (not tubingless!) and has a rechargeable battery, which I found lasts for probably seven or eight 20 minute pumping sessions! I usually am sitting at my desk or in the car when pumping, so I haven't had to necessarily be super mobile while doing so, but love that I CAN get up and am not attached to a cord on the wall! Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the app to install on my phone so I can't attest for the Bluetooth capability, but it's a neat feature in theory. So to get started it came with a small backpack, pictured, and all the instructions, which included an app. The app has resources which I think is great for new parents, resources, and more information about Medela. The backpack has an area for an ice pack, extra bottles, the swing pump, and any extras you may need. Now to the Swing Maxi! I love it!!! Medela has done a great job making a pump that&rsquo;s lightweight, easy to use, and has the ability to clip or &ldquo;swing&rdquo; anywhere without getting in the way. I was able to use the Medela strapless bra to hold it in place while working on the computer. I was also able to do chores around the house with the Swing Maxi clipped to my pants. The noise is very subtle so much so that it didn&rsquo;t interrupt anyone&rsquo;s concentration or conversations. There were stands that came with it so the bottles could stay upright while at my desks. If I could change anything it would be an extra cord that is longer just because it was a bit short but fine for desk work or a drive (passenger side of course). The bra was a great concept. It fit so well and was actually really comfortable. It would be nice to have a flap that could easily be moved from the nipple area but if you&rsquo;re using pads it&rsquo;s not a must. The other thing it takes so work attach the pump to the bra to start pumping. Maybe having removable straps. The hook did help keep the bra still but having to place and remove the pump from the bottle with the bra in the way was hard to manage in a jam. You can&rsquo;t just slip it under/over the bra. Like all moms, I have a ton of things going on and hate to be trapped in a chair pumping. While wearing this pump I was able to fold laundry, do dishes, and I even changed my baby&rsquo;s diaper! I normally use a hands free and tubing free pump but I actually found myself gravitating toward this pump more. The flanges stayed in place better as I moved and the pump was small enough to stick in the back of my yoga pants. It was great! My 3 month old has enough head control that I could carry her while the pump was on. I think if you still had to support your baby&rsquo;s head it would be a bit trickier to pick them up with the bottles attached. I&rsquo;m a novice when it comes to pumping but I had no difficulties with this pump. Cleaning and assembly was easy. All the parts easily clicked into place. And, I didn&rsquo;t feel like milk was stuck in any parts. The only negative thing I can say about this pump is that you can not control the suction for each side individually. So if you want to use different suction settings per side, you have to pump each side separately. You can do this by connecting the tubing from the unused side back into the system. Not a deal breaker for me but something to note. Though I have not traveled with this pump (grr covid), I think it is going to be very handy when we do. It is far less cumbersome than some of the other pumps. Plus, it has a USB charger so I can bring a remote charging pack with me to recharge it. Strong suction = more milk *when fitted properly* Best &quot;pumping bag&quot; accessory on the market- Medela has always led the pack in this area, Swing Maxi is no exception. The size, weight, color and compartments of the accessory bag are all well thought out. Extra points for the insulated sleeve in the center! I would prefer a double zipper that zips from either side on the main compartment, but that's all I would change. Bottle stands. A must have to avoid spills - nothing is more frustrating! Cons Noise. Yup, the Swing Maxi is loud. Louder than I would like for using at work - I prefer a quieter motor for more privacy, and less &quot;white noise&quot; while pumping. Length of tubing. The Y tubing between the two flanges/bottles is just a hair short which makes setting up and breaking down trickier than necessary. The power button. It's easily triggered when storing, removing or basically anytime you handle the pump. All it takes is a light finger touch/bump and it starts the motor! If this had only happened once, or even twice, I wouldn't mention it. But it happens All. The. Time. The Stellar Product Testing Panel supplied me with this pump in exchange for my review. I was happy to do so, since I have two children and am pumping frequently when away from my baby! After having tried several brands/models of breast pumps, my recommendation is to consider the Swing Maxi if you are looking for a portable, light pump that aids in milk production for occasional times away from your baby or as an aid for establishing breastfeeding. I currently have a 7mo old. I am working 40+ hours per week and I usually pump about 4-5 times per day, four of which are during work. Otherwise I am doing direct breastfeeding. This pump has a lot of Pros. The number one being that it is small, powerful, and pretty quiet (as long as you have it resting on something soft, otherwise it vibrates the whole table). I was very impressed with how small the actual pump is and how powerful it still is. I am able to pump the same volumes as I would with my regular pump. The flanges are very comfortable and feel sturdy. It comes with 21 and 24mm flanges which is nice if you need a smaller flange option. I still needed to use the 24mm with an insert to get the best fit, but had no issues. The overall aesthetic of the flange/bottles is quite nice and is well made. It makes pumping feel a little cooler knowing that the set up looks sleek. The tubing also feels very sturdy. I thought that it would disconnect from the pump or the flanges easily but it doesn't. The backpack is a great carrying case and has an insulated pocket to store milk, so it really could be the only bag you need. It isn't big enough to hold much else other than pumping supplies. The battery life is good for 3-4 twenty minute pumps and charges really quickly. The pump itself is extremely easy to use. I wish it didn't automatically go to expression after one minute of stimulation but it isn't that hard to just press the button again. The app can bluetooth to your pump and you can track your pumps that way as well as have a real time timer of how long you have been pumping. Cleaning is pretty easy as well. I typically use cleaning wipes to wipe the flange down between pumps during the day and store my pump parts in a fridge with a thorough cleaning once I get home with soap and water. Very easy to put together too. The overall size is nice and very portable especially if you don't have a lot of room. What I think this pump struggles with is the flexibility and freedom of movement that it claims. The length of tubing is too short to really provide you flexible movement. There is a ribbon on the pump as if to hang it from something, but i'm not sure if i'm supposed to clip it to my pants or what. Did not come with a clip. Because of that I was still stuck sitting while pumping. You also still have a flange and bottle system that sticks out from your bra, so that in and of itself limits what you can do while pumping. The battery life doesn't last long enough for more than 3-4 pumps so if you were traveling you would need an adaptor to be able to charge in the car depending on how long a trip you were taking. Overall, I would give this about 3.5 stars. It is a great pump but just not as &quot;freeing&quot; as they want it to be. Since I'm not tied to a plug, I can multitask while pumping if I want or I can enjoy pumping in a comfy location that might not be near a plug. The battery lasted a weekend worth of pumping sessions without me needing to plug it back in for a charge too! During the session, the pump auto switches between the cycles at one minute which is great for me since I tend to get wrapped up in other stuff and would forget to switch it myself. It's quieter than any other pump I've seen or used too. Now there are some things that could be improved - it would be great to have a timer display somewhere on the unit so I would know how long it's been going rather than having to rely on my own timer. Same with some kind of light bar that would show the strength of the suction so I would be able to consistently set it every session rather than fiddle with it until it was comfortable every session. Finally, while the loop at the top is nice, a clip would be better so it could be attached to a belt loop, etc (it's a little too big for most women's pockets). When using this pump for about 20 minutes, I produced almost as much milk as I did with my non-portable pump. The pump is very easy to use, and has 9 adjustable levels, so it was simple to find the perfect suction level. It also came with 21mm and 24mm flanges, so I didn't have to buy any extras in alternate sizes to fit me. The parts are super easy to clean, and I really like how the Bluetooth enabled app tracks how much I pumped. However, it is a little noisier than I wish it was. Also, you pretty much have to have a pumping bra to use this effectively.
