I was using it as directed but the connector parts were not draining me. I have a huge oversupply because I gave birth to twin boys about 4 months ago and they spent a few weeks in the NICU while I built up a supply. The connector parts that the pump came with just weren't effective at getting out the milk. So I started to use the connector parts they gave me at the hospital -- only to find that those parts are not compatible with this pump when I had an accident and damaged the pump. The pump sucked up milk through the tubing and into the machine. Medela was wonderful and replaced the pump for me ASAP free of charge. I was very worried because I'm extremely prone to clogs which are incredibly painful and labor intensive to work out. So I bought the medela hand pump which honestly works better than this pump does. I've since only been using the connector parts designed for the machine but I have to pump 6-8 times a day and every pump session takes at least 45 minutes to an hour. I have to deeply massage my breast tissue to get the milk moving enough through the pump. And then I have to turn off the pump and hand express for up to 20 minutes after just to get everything out! I'm so exhausted, honestly. I'm up for at least 4 hours in the night for my night pumps and feeding the babies. Even when I breastfeed the boys, I still have to pump after for 30-45 minutes. My hands are weak from hand expressing and massaging. I have a horrible case of postpartum carpal tunnel. I didn't have this problem to this extent when I was using the other connector parts but I don't want to break the machine again. I absolutely cannot leave milk undrained or I will end up inflamed and in miserable pain, so I really have no choice but to put this much effort into pumping. I planned on breastfeeding and just pumping when I needed to leave my baby with someone for a few hours and then life happened and my baby was born 6 weeks early. She was in NICU for two weeks and I had to exclusively pump until she could learn how to latch and drink enough mls daily to come home. Turns out my little sweetie had a tongue and lip tie that needed to be corrected until she could properly latch so she was fed with a bottle only basically for over a month and a half. I pumped exclusively with this pump only during that time. I was able to pump enough milk and then some to store milk for later. I'm so glad I chose the Medela brand through my insurance, I love all their products. I really like how soft the flanges are for this pump compared to the ones I used at the hospital. Plus it came with the nice little ice pack and cooler. My baby is now 5 months old and I still use this pump and it works just as good as it did when I first got it. I even had a power outage once and was still able to pump through that because of the battery pack that comes with it! Another game changer is the bra you can buy from Medela so you can be hands free. I would pump and feed my baby a bottle all at the same time to get a little extra sleep. I&rsquo;m a first time mom who works part time as a waitress during busy shifts. This pump is great because it is light weight and comes with both the wall adapter and battery pack all included in the convenient carry case. I basically leave the pump, vacuum lines and battery pack together in the bag all the time so I can save a minute or two when I get to my pumping station at work, and also so I can be moderately mobile when at home. Everything goes together easily and is easy to clean. I also use this as my main pump at home also, pumping typically about once per day. I decided to choose the PIS because its convenient size and option for the battery pack. I bought some rechargeable batteries and a charger and use that battery pack all the time so I don&rsquo;t have to worry about actually plugging the pump in. It&rsquo;s great. Sometimes I even put it in the bag and walk around to get stuff done around the house. The pumping bra they sell is great as well, I typically use that, the only thing I don&rsquo;t like is that you have to take the nipple shields apart from the bottle to take it off. As I am a first time mom I can&rsquo;t compare to other pumps but it&rsquo;s pretty quiet (I guess that&rsquo;s a concern for people) and I enjoy using it. I would recommend to purchase this model. My tip for on the go is to take a bag to put all the parts in once they are used so it doesn&rsquo;t get on everything else. There isn&rsquo;t a lot of pieces like my wireless pump that I need to clean and put together so that&rsquo;s another plus. You also don&rsquo;t need to put it on a stronger suction either.
