To be honest, I did too! I read the instructions out while my boys followed along. There are various steps involved to get the magic to work. Knock on the lamp, tip out the invisible sand, rub the lamp to make the magic mist appear. Amazing! Finally the genie slowly rises out of the lamp. Wow! I love that the lamp can be reset to play with over and over again. I read out the instructions for him and he followed them without any problems. He thought it was so magical when the mist comes out of the lamp. When the Mixie comes out at the very end his face was a picture. I love the fact that you can reuse the lamp again and again. He has released it a good handful of times now and the mist still works. You can buy mist refills. The first time we played with it, it did take us a little concentration to get the steps right and my 7 and 4 year old needed help and guiding through the instructions, but the result was so magical! My daughters were absolutely blown away with this toy, from the invisible sand being heard whilst tipping the lamp, to the lights and smoke before the various treasure appears, each step had my children enthralled. When the mixling Genie appears at the end, they truly felt it was magical, only heightened when the Genie granted their wish for a later bedtime by glowing green (who was I to argue with a Genie!). My daughter is 6 and my son is 2. The whole process is very exciting and it definitely has the wow factor! The lamp itself is a very good size and well made. I also like that you can repeat the process as many times as you like meaning it&rsquo;s not just a 1 time use. Following the steps to reveal your magic mixies is straight forward and fun the kids loved the whole process. you can hear the magic mixie in the lamp making talking and knocking in which you have to repeat the same pattern to unlock the next stage. You get a cute jewel ring to wear that also allows you to make wishes with your magic mixie. When the magic mixie appeared the kids were amazed. Lots of play and value for money. The whole family from the baby to Grandad were open mounted as the magical mist appeared and as we chanted the magic words, a genie appeared! Up popped a pink toy as shown in the photos. There are also a blue and a rainbow ones available. It can also be used over and over, even with your own choice of toy. The only slight criticism is that the instructions are a bit hard to follow and definitely require adult help. the toy is aged 5 plus but cannot really be initially run by a smaller child.
