The toy is fairly large but not too heavy and a bonus is that it comes with batteries so once you remove it from the packaging it's good to go. There are two parts to the toy the Interactive Wand and the Crystal Ball itself and together they create over 80 lights, sounds and reactions. The crystal ball has three modes, create, off and night light mode. To awaken the crystal ball you have to jiggle the want and point upwards, if you point it downwards then it will gather mystical moonlight and the energy of the night. By waving the want up and down then it releases the power of the light's magic and by pressing the crystal on the base of the crystal ball it will begin to glow green to show the step is complete. What I love about this is as well as creating the lights you can also create the magical mist which was probably my daughters favourite part. Again you need to use the wand, jiggling it upwards, then downwards and the up and down and the button will flash and will grow green to complete the step. The gem changes colour and music plays and then the crystal ball lights up and begins to mist up. The mixie then begins to speak and tells fortunes. As you wave the want it will make sounds and will appear from the base of the crystal ball. The globe can be removed to take out the mixie who is a mixture of hard plastic and soft fur. The Mixie is interactive and her gems on the forehead will also light up. My daughter loved that she could play games with Mixie to match the colours on the head to her wand as well as asking questions for Mixie to answer. Overall it is a fun toy and we found it quick and easy to set up and quickly get the hang of it. I think the big fun is in the creation process, when you do the mix and the mist. You use the wand and &ldquo;create&rdquo; your creature. The wand has tons of lights and interacts with the ball and the pet. It&rsquo;s a little much for a four year old to figure out, but she still thought it was so cool and she loves the little pet. The best part is you can continue playing with everything, even after the creation. The process of revealing the mixie lasts longer than the previous version which makes it feel like more of an experience, but the process of waving the wand up and down is a bit repetitive. The mixie toy is also more interactive than the previous version so the play does last longer but again, is a bit repetitive with the wand waving. This was her first experience with the Magic Mixies, and she loved everything about it. This toy is so cool! It has over 80 lights, sounds, and reactions. The directions were easy to read and follow. It even includes pictures to follow along with. There are several different steps that you must perform to get your Magic Mixie Crystal Ball to create a Magic Mixie. The wand was one of her favorite parts. It lights up in several different colors and fits comfortably in her hand. It has different buttons to press, such as a power button, a Mixie button, and a spell button. Once you finish the 6 magic steps, you will find an adorable Mixie inside the crystal ball. The Mixie itself has movable arms and legs. You can even position its tail. This cute pet has four modes to interact with. You can tickle it, and it will laugh. Tickle it too much, and it will get annoyed, and need a break. You can switch to game mode and play a game of matching colors. You may ask Mixie any question in fortune-telling mode, and Mixie will tell you its predictions. You may also try casting 7 different spells with Mixie. This toy runs on a total of 10 batteries. Two AAA batteries are located in the wand and two AAA batteries are located in the Mixie Pet. The base holds 6 AA batteries. The base and crystal ball are durable. The Mixie has a hard plastic body, but is covered with soft furry material. One of the best features of this toy is that it can be used over and over again. You can use it with any toy, not just Magic Mixies. There are instructions on how to load the crystal ball. If you choose, you can reload this toy with Magic Mixies. Another great feature of this toy is it can be used as a nightlight. The magic does not have to end with the revealing. Your child can change the colors of the nightlight with the wand. My daughter uses it at bedtime to help her relax and guide her way if needed. Over time and many uses, the fog may dissipate and need to be replaced. I liked everything about this toy. It brought lots of happiness and excitement to me and my daughter.
