[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A fun build for your Pokémon loving kid or kid at heart! Instructions were clear and easy to understand. The diagrams highlighted the exact spot where the pieces would attach. If you made a mistake, the included tool had many ways to be able to loosen the part and try again.
All in all the build took an about an hour. With a stand, moveable and interchanging parts this is a great toy for any Pokémon fan!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 14 year old son was excited to build this Pokedex. In his opinion the only slightly tricky part was building the hinge area. Once it's complete itbis a very sleek looking build. My favorite part is the light up feature. Overall a fun build
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was definitely fun to build, but when compared to a traditional lego set, it did have some very key differences. I will say that the first thing I noticed was that the instruction book was very thorough and easy to follow. I did like that it used different colors to distinguish where pieces should go. I will say these pieces were significantly harder to clip together compared to a traditional lego build and my kids did have some difficulty building it.

One step closer to catching them all!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was not sure what to make of the Kanto Region Pokedex building set as Pokemon has never been my thing. I personally cannot tell the 1st evolution of a Squirtle from the third evolution of a Charmander. But my son and wife are both Pokemaniacs (Pokemoniacs?) and we all love building sets, so I thought we would give it a go.
The set has 322 pieces spread across six bags. The first three bags correspond to the back cover of the Pokedex, with the final three bags yielding the front cover and display stand. The instructions have detailed illustrations that use multicolored highlights to identify the studs being connected in each step. My role was to find the pieces used in each step whereas my son was the “engineer” putting it all together. One feature I really appreciated was the absence of stickers often used to add detail to blocks. Instead, the details are part of the pieces themselves. Thank you Mattel for eliminating the worst part of building sets - the painstaking process of aligning and centering images. All told, it took us a little over 2 hours to put it all together, and the final result feels substantial.
The set has a few key features that really set it apart. First, there is a functional hinge that allows the Pokedex to open and close. Next, there is a power block that illuminates a piece on the front when pressed. Finally, there is a set of five lenticular cards corresponding to Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, and Eevee that can be displayed one at a time. Swapping these pieces involves removing a small panel in the back, pushing the current card out, snapping a new one in, and replacing the panel. This is not something my son wants to do constantly, but only when he is in the mood for a specific Pokemon.
The inclusion of a stand to display the Pokedex is a nice plus. When open, the Pokemon shifts as you view it from different positions. In addition, the Pokemon cards not in use store neatly in the back.
All told, this was a fun set to assemble and yielded a solid piece to display alongside my son’s other building sets.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We received the set and my daughter was so excited as she loves everything brick building. Well, she’s not a huge Pokémon fan. She really enjoyed the overall build. Her biggest frustration was that the pictures In the instruction booklet didn’t necessarily look like the bricks In real life so that got her very frustrated. Being almost 9 I thought she would do OK, but it’s definitely for a little bit more experienced brick builder. The directions at times could be confusing but he was able to figure it out. Also some pieces he really had to shove them together to get them in place.

Once done, this set looks super cool and my son was very happy with how it looked. He especially liked that the set has you create a stand for the Pokédex so you can display it.
Note though that once you place your chosen Pokémon in the display, it is difficult to change them out. We had to take off several pieces to switch it which isn’t ideal if you want to change this multiple times.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter really enjoyed putting this pokemon pokedex together. She's loved pokemon for years so she was thrilled when we got this. Its a good size and you can change out the cards which is a plus. It can be opened or closed too.

It’s awesome & it makes a very cool display!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My boys love this, especially my 11 year old. He put it together in a short time on his own in one afternoon & now he displays it in his room. He loves everything Pokemon & Lego so this is right up his alley. His favorite features are “that the blue light actually lights up and it looks pretty cool, like it’s an old school game boy & that the characters on the screen can be changed” He also likes how it can be displayed. It can look like a book on a stand or opened. It’s nice quality & I like that the characters are hologram stickers so they change positions whenever you move them from side to side.

Versatile set which looks really cool displayed!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a great building set for an older Pokemon fan! My 16 year old son built this set to display on his shelf with his other gaming collectibles. He said the instructions were very straight forward and it was a good level of difficulty…not too easy and not too hard. When done he most liked that it came with the stand to display it, that it had the interchangeable graphic tiles, and that it looked really neat both open and close. He thought the lighted feature was a real bonus as well! It’s a good set for older teens to display, but also has some neat features that younger teens would want for playing with.

Cute nostalgia brick build
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I gave this toy to my teenager to build, as he loves Pokémon and building block type toys. He said it was a fun build, but challenging at times. The directions were a little confusing at times and building the hinge part of the dex was a challenge. Which is surprising for me to hear, since he is really good at building block style toy builds. He did enjoy having the light brick and the option to change to a different Pokemon. He also liked that I came with a stand and the stand has the ability to hold the extra Pokémon picture squares behind the dex in the stand. The reason for the three stars is you have to be very careful opening and closing the dex. If you try to do it too quickly, the hinge pieces fall off, risking losing the pieces and not having a full complete build.

Creative Toy!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son put it together. It took him around 1.5 - 2 hours to finish putting it together. He loves the idea and the concept of this toy, like a small video console. He loves the color and the details of it. The colorful small buttons. The big button that lights up adds a touch to it. The lenticular Pokémon character cards are so cute. It also closes like a real game video game console. What he dislike about was there were some missing pieces he said, few 2x3 blocks. After he puts it together it is really just for display.
